Chapter 1 - THE HORRIFIC CREATURE

The night was a decisive one. Frog all over the globe, travelled far to the brink of the stream just to croak their voice to the thin cold air. The rain matched out of the sky, descending down in heavy cloudy particles. Consistent thunderstorm married the foggy dark cloud, striking to and fro the sky like they were angered by some heavenly bodies.

Judging by the level of each water drop, one would think it could dive through the human skull. The figure of a twelve year old little boy could be seen lifting his toes into the thin air. His name was Jay. The only surviving child of the Marcus family. Mrs Marcus who happen to be Jay biological mother had fervently recorded series of still birth. ( A situation whereby the child dies immediately after birth.

It happened over and over the years. These were ancient days when sorcery activities was still at it highest peak. As time passed by, the use of magic became a gruesome offense in the land.

People who dared to practice it, if caught, would be beheaded right at the king palace.

Jay mother had secretly gone to a local sorcerer, against her husband wish for consultation.

She just couldn't take it anymore. Loosing babies every now and then was getting her traumatized. She needed a quick miracle. Her long lasting patience was gradually deteriorating.

That was how Jay came into the family picture. His birth was mysterious. Far more than the ordinary. His eyes glowed the moment they glanced open to the world.

The prophecy surrounding Jay birth became a thing of mystery. As young jay ages, his parent totally writes off any prophetical believe they were once told. They lived their live peacefully, rhyming gently like they never existed but that night was about to change it all.

Mr and Mr Marcus weren't home. The house felt desolated and lonely. The tragic saga began with Jay home dog named Wilson. Wilson had hungrily chased after a baby rabbit, aiming to have a taste of it cranky bones. The rabbit played a fast one on Wilson. It popped into the bush, forcing Wilson to escort it into the thick part of the forest. That was how the race began.

Jay had tailed Wilson, hoping to bring it back home. Just what sought of dog was he?

Why couldn't he be contended with the little he was given. Must he travel extra miles in quest of some rabbit bones. The night was deep. It was an ungodly hour. Jay ventured into the thick bush, calling out Wilson, perhaps the latter would bark back in response.

Wilson… Wilson… Wilson. He called out loud but all he could hear was the creeping sound of the night cricket. The rain fell heavily on the earth, making it look like a rapture was coming. Jay smuggled his way around the thick bush, leaving a deep footstep at any move he takes.

What was that beneath the tree, he thought. He wipes the drop of water migrating around his face perhaps, his sight weren't crystal clear but to his greatest surprise, they were.

Curiosity became a cogent part of him. The urge to look and the fear of the unknown figure baffled around his mind. After all, he was a man and should probably act like one.

He build up his inner courage and slowly tip toed towards the anonymous figure. The initial revelation of the unknown screamed his heart out of his chamber. Lying in front of him was the dead body of an one eyed woman, resting lifelessly by the mangrove tree. Jay yelled out into the thin air. Fear gripped him like a heavy shock.

Judging by the horrific look of the body, one could tell that it barely twenty four hours to her murder. This was definitely not the action of a human. The left eye was completely plucked out of it socket, leaving behind a dark horrific void space. He just stood still, wondering what next to do. Thinking became a tedious task.

Was she wrestling with someone? That seem less of an option. Whoever the predator is was much more stronger, already having the intention of eliminating the aimed target. Jay could feel series and collusion of thought visiting his tiny little brain. He couldn't rest his assumption to a conclusion but something unknown was about to trigger his pounding heart.

The thudding sound of an approaching footstep makes his mind doodle in debate. The vibration alone was something that worries the heart. Oh no! Jay exclaimed silently.

This was no ordinary foot. It felt and sounded like that of a wild animal with a typical human toe.

Easy and slow, he oscillated his head backward, thinking of what it could be.

Alas! Few centimeter away from him was the huge and terrific figure of an one eyed beast, looking three times the size of a regular gorilla. The valid eye glowed in red while the other was filled with complete darkness. Jay froze on the spot. His leg stood firm to the ground, already calculating how deep a feet his grave yard would be.

There was no hope, he said to himself. This was the brutal end for him. The beast snored at him, exhaling out large amount of breath from it huge dark black nostril. Jay trembled in fear, not sure if running was an option or an attempt to suicide. Jay had just one chance.

It either he lived or die! The beast had no time to waste.

Jay was just another prey he would certainly feed on. The beast growled louder and aimed at the kid, ready to pluck out his eye. Leave my son alone! Mr Marcus voice roared centimeter away. Dad! Jay called out in astonishment. Come for me you animal, Mr Marcus urged the beast in anger, bringing out his double barrel gun.

The gorilla looking beast shifted it attention towards Jay father, approaching him in a fast mode.

Mr Marcus pulled the trigger and shot rapidly at the incoming beast but pitifully, it was totally ineffective. A total waste of machinery. Without much hesitation, the beast went for Mr Marcus neck , gripped it and slowly pulled out his left eye.

That was the end of Jay father. He died in the most horrific way ever. Jay couldn't bring himself to comprehend what he just witnessed. He suddenly felt weak to his bones. He should have saved his tears, only if he knew how pathetic the scenario was about to be. He just witnessed his father eyes plucked out it socket. Wasn't that enough reason to go nut and crazy.

But mum and embarked on a journey that might totally render him mentally derailed. She came into the picture and got so bitter, seeing her husband lying lifeless on the ground. Jay mum screamed out and ran forward to the creature with a big log of wood. Mum no! Jay had yelled out in bitterness, knowing what the next few seconds would say.

The beast laughed mockingly at her as she approached. What a silly move, the creature thought. A back hand slap from the beast got Jay mum passing out. Now back to the main target, Jay!

The beast drew closer, ready to snatch life out of him. It raises it big broad hand, positioning them towards Jay left eye, about to pull them out when a silver bullet collided with it chest.

The beast screamed backing off instantly. It fled into the thick part of the bush, carrying along unconscious Mrs Marcus. Jay passed out instantly.
