Chapter 5 - Waiting on a miracle

Chapter One: Waiting on a Miracle

Faith sat quietly on the edge of the bed, her hands folded tightly in her lap. "John… do you really think I can have a baby someday?" she asked softly, her voice trembling just enough to reveal the worry she'd carried for years.

John, always calm and gentle, took her hands in his. "Faith, my love, I understand your fears, but I believe in God's timing. We've waited this long, and we must keep hoping. He knows what's best for us," he said, his voice steady and warm.

Faith leaned her head against his shoulder. "I just… I don't see any signs that I'll ever get pregnant. Sometimes it feels like I'll never hear the pitter-patter of little feet in this house."

John wrapped his arms around her. "Shh… my beloved Faith. Don't let doubt steal your joy. You are strong, and we will have our time. God is not done with us yet. Let's keep trusting Him."

Faith smiled through her tears, a small glimmer of hope in her eyes. "John… I thank God every day for giving me a husband like you. Your heart is so full of love, and you give me peace I never imagined. You truly are my everything."

John chuckled softly. "And you, Faith, you are my heart, my joy… and sometimes my little troublemaker," he teased, squeezing her hands.

Faith laughed, the sound light and free. "Troublemaker, huh? Then I guess I can be your favorite one."

They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, letting the laughter die down before Faith asked, "What would you like to eat today, my love?"

"Hmm… I think I'll go with hot rice and stew. You know, the one you make better than anyone," John replied with a grin.

Faith nudged him playfully. "Well, if that's what you want, why don't we make it together? And… maybe afterwards, we can enjoy a little… quality time?" she said with a mischievous sparkle in her eyes.

John laughed, shaking his head. "Young woman, go focus on cooking first. God will give us our miracle in His own time. There's no rush. Let's trust Him, and enjoy every moment we have together."

Faith chuckled and went to the kitchen, humming softly as she prepared the meal. The aroma of the stew filled the small home, and soon, the food was ready. She placed the plates on the table and called, "Come and eat, my love. Your food is ready."

John joined her at the table, and they ate together, savoring the meal and each other's company. After they finished, John reached for Faith's hand. "Come on, my love. Let's go out for a little while. I just want to see you smile today," he said.

Faith's eyes lit up. "You always know how to make me happy, John," she whispered, squeezing his hand.

As they stepped outside into the gentle sunlight, hand in hand, Faith felt a warmth in her heart. No matter how long it took, she knew they would face the journey together—and with John by her side, she felt ready to hope again.
