Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Battle Bliss

This was a skill Arthur had comprehended based on the wind element control granted to him by the Holy Spear and a tiny bit of help from the Holy Sword.

Really, the help from the Holy Sword only accounted for a tiny bit.

The Invisible Air didn't make the Holy Sword's body transparent; instead, it used several layers of wind to change the light's refractive index, thereby concealing the blade.

It became an invisible sword.

As the two stood opposite each other, their auras intertwined. Even the air currents stirred by the Sky-Rending Cry-Vulture's flapping wings could not penetrate, steadily bypassing the pair.

Wu Zhangkong frowned; he realized he had indeed underestimated Arthur.

Just being able to keep his aura intertwined with his for so long already surpassed everyone else in this academy.

Particularly Arthur's empty, oddly-positioned right hand. It looked like a flaw, but he could feel that it was where the killing intent was heaviest.

"What are they doing?" a student asked in confusion.

Arthur's purple spirit ring filled them with envy. They didn't even have hundred-year spirit rings, let alone a thousand-year one; that was just an unreachable dream.

The soul spirit in the sky also caused people to look up frequently.

But why were Arthur and the teacher standing there motionless? Weren't they supposed to fight?

"Do you know what they're doing?" Tang Wulin asked Xie Xie beside him, feeling that Xie Xie knew quite a lot.

But Xie Xie had no time to answer; he was currently drenched in sweat.

His Light Dragon Dagger Martial Soul was being suppressed—he had never encountered such a thing before!

"My apologies, I will take this seriously from now on." Wu Zhangkong's gaze was complex. He hadn't expected such a Genius student to be in this tiny East Sea Academy; he hadn't even seen one like this at Shrek Academy.

Putting away the belt, a sword manifested in Wu Zhangkong's hand. The blade was crystal clear, wreathed in frost, with blue light flickering faintly. The moment it appeared, the surrounding air seemed to freeze.

Martial Soul: heavenly frost sword.

However, Wu Zhangkong still insisted on suppressing his Soul Power to Rank 32.

In an instant, Arthur moved, shifting from extreme stillness to extreme motion. His figure flickered like a ghost as he rapidly approached.

Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track?

No, it wasn't.

Wu Zhangkong saw that this was a movement technique completely different from Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, though its manifestation was similar.

The Instant Light Meteorite technique Arthur practiced was divided into three combat methods.

Movement technique: Instant Light.

Striking method: Meteorite.

And the final method: Sky Strike.

However, Sky Strike was an aerial combat method. Since Arthur couldn't fly yet, he hadn't practiced it much.

The movement technique he was currently using was Instant Light.

Soul Power within his body surged toward the Holy Sword, which converted it into light-attribute Soul Power. This caused every move Arthur made to leave behind layers of light and shadow, making him even more unpredictable.

With terrifying speed, he closed in on Wu Zhangkong in the blink of an eye and swung the Holy Sword down.

Arthur didn't hold back on this strike, going all out. The advantage of an invisible sword lay in the first strike!

Wu Zhangkong's expression remained unchanged. The changes in the airflow allowed him to sense something coming, and he raised the heavenly frost sword to block.

The edge of the heavenly frost sword collided with the Holy Sword enveloped by the Invisible Air.

The collision didn't produce a piercing metallic ring, but rather sounded like two pieces of profound ice striking each other.

A clear, long "clack" rang out as the sword blades rubbed against each other.

The vibrating air rippled outward, carrying with it frost particles falling from the heavenly frost sword.

Is it a sword?

The moment they collided, Wu Zhangkong felt it. That invisible thing was a sword. It seemed this was Arthur's Martial Soul, the Excalibur.

The first strike of the invisible sword hadn't worked; Wu Zhangkong would only become more accustomed to this kind of combat as it went on.

However, Arthur did not stop. He swung his sword continuously, pressing forward relentlessly.

The heavenly frost sword and the Holy Sword crossed frantically in mid-air, the dense sounds of collision blending into one.

At times it sounded like heavy rain hitting ice.

At times it sounded like the short ring of metal being struck after being frozen by frost.

Every impact caused the surrounding air to tremble slightly.

The more they fought, the more strained Wu Zhangkong felt, even though he had clearly grown accustomed to that invisible Holy Sword.

Because every one of Arthur's strikes landed exactly on the nodes of his internal Soul Power circulation!

Having practiced the sword since childhood, Wu Zhangkong could see that Arthur's swordsmanship was very ordinary, merely basic sword techniques.

Yet in Arthur's hands, it seemed to turn the mundane into the miraculous, becoming far more lethal than sophisticated sword techniques.

It was like... like a machine that never made mistakes, where every step was the best he could possibly do.

And in fact, that was exactly the case.

The Instant Light Meteorite technique Arthur used emphasized attacking the enemy's weaknesses with one's own strengths.

The Meteorite striking method, simply put, had two steps: first, testing for points where the enemy was weaker than oneself; second, amplifying and breaking through those weaknesses.

With the help of Intuition, Arthur skipped the first step entirely. Every sword strike targeted Wu Zhangkong's weakest point.

"Impressive..."

The inwardly proud Wu Zhangkong had to admit that even though he was a Spirit Emperor and had Cultivated for many more years, he was no match for Arthur at the same Soul Power Rank.

With a jolt of his entire body's Soul Power, Wu Zhangkong tried to knock Arthur back and create some distance.

Facing the oncoming riotous Soul Power, Arthur was relentless. A purple spirit ring flickered.

First Spirit Ability: Soul Power Release!

With all his stats doubled, Arthur forcibly endured the impact, pushed through the Soul Power obstruction, and continued to stick to Wu Zhangkong.

In desperation, Wu Zhangkong erupted with Soul Power far exceeding Rank 32 to blast Arthur away.

"Come, let me see your limit." Wu Zhangkong's eyes were bright and piercing. This was the first time Arthur had seen an emotion other than coldness in his eyes.

Wu Zhangkong no longer suppressed his Soul Power to the level of a Spirit Elder. Now, the Soul Power within his body was vigorous.

Every Soul Power node circulating throughout his body was completely filled.

In other words, Wu Zhangkong no longer had any weak points.

At least, Arthur couldn't find any.

Arthur frowned deeply. He knew very well that if he couldn't find a weakness, Instant Light Meteorite would be useless.

In that case, he wouldn't use it.

Arthur took a step back, held the Holy Sword horizontally by his ear, released the Invisible Air wrapped around the blade, and struck hard at Wu Zhangkong.

A powerful storm was unleashed with the swing of the sword. The compressed wind force was released instantly, creating an impact like that of an iron hammer.

Wind King's Iron Hammer!

A massive white shockwave rolled toward Wu Zhangkong.

Wu Zhangkong swung the heavenly frost sword, and an icy blue sword energy slashed out fiercely, colliding head-on with the shockwave. The resulting aftermath of ice mist and air currents exploded and scattered.

It was only because Arthur's Rank was only 32 that everything remained under Wu Zhangkong's control.

Otherwise, not a single student watching on the playground would have survived the aftershocks.

Arthur's footing was as steady as a rock. He continuously used Soul Power Release, frantically slashing out sword energy to seal off Wu Zhangkong's surroundings.

Wu Zhangkong didn't intend to dodge either. Correspondingly, he took on each of the icy blue sword energy from the heavenly frost sword, neutralizing them one by one.

Finally, Arthur stopped.

"Have you reached your limit?" Wu Zhangkong asked upon seeing this. He knew Arthur still had his second and third Martial Soul Abilities unused.

"Just about."

The second purple spirit ring flickered.

An abnormality instantly occurred where the sword energy had been neutralized by Wu Zhangkong earlier.

Several strands of sword energy returned out of thin air, standing suspended. They emitted an aura far more violent than before.

Second Spirit Ability: Sword Domain!
