A Son's Trial
"Let's call it a day. I've told you all the key points..."
Julian D'Aurelius stretched lazily as he finished speaking. The afternoon sunlight streamed through the windows, casting warm golden patterns across the floorboards. Dust motes drifted through the air like tiny stars, creating a peaceful atmosphere after several hours of discussion.
Across from him, Lina Ashford and Liza Voss sat quietly.
Lina was reviewing everything Julian had explained, her beautiful purple eyes thoughtful and focused. Meanwhile, Liza looked slightly overwhelmed from absorbing so much information at once.
Just as Julian was about to let the two women rest, his room door was pushed open from the outside.
The relaxed atmosphere instantly froze.
Gary D'Aurelius stood at the doorway.
His expression was completely blank.
Too blank.
He glanced around the room.
His gaze swept over Julian.
Then over Lina.
Then over Liza.
The silence somehow felt heavier than any lecture.
