Chapter 37 - Chapter 37:Power and growth

Inside the hidden mountain fortress in the frozen wilderness of the Land of Frost, Kyro stood barefoot on the cold stone floor of the training hall.

Three years had changed him.

His body was taller, broader, and far more defined. Dense muscle moved beneath his dark skin like coiled steel cables. The air around him carried a faint heat from the mana circulating through his body.

Across the hall, Miku floated while leaning lazily against one of the glowing crystal pillars, her wings fluttering softly as she watched him with clear admiration.

Kyro exhaled slowly.

"System… show me everything."

The familiar blue interface unfolded before his eyes.

Kyro stared at the numbers.

Three years of brutal training had more than tripled his physical performance.

And that was without activating dragon augmentation.

Miku gave a low whistle.

"Master… you're officially terrifying."

Kyro chuckled quietly.

Mana Body Reinforcement

Mana is infused into muscle fibers to multiply strength, speed, and durability.

Current multiplier:

x3 Physical Power

Mana Afterimage Clones

Using high-speed movement and mana density, Kyro creates solid afterimage clones capable of striking enemies.

Maximum active clones:

VOID STEP

Derived from the magical text Kyro studied.

A spatial blink movement technique.

Range: 20 meters

Cooldown between steps: 2 seconds

This technique made Kyro almost impossible to track in close combat.

MIRAGE FIELD

A battlefield distortion technique.

Kyro releases mana into the environment to distort perception.

Enemies see multiple Kyros attacking simultaneously.

SEKIRO COMBAT ARTS — MANA EVOLUTION

Kyro didn't simply practice the techniques of Sekiro.

He evolved them.

MANA PRAYING STRIKES

Rapid martial strikes infused with mana pulses.

Each impact releases a shockwave capable of breaking bone through armor.

A downward sword strike that releases compressed mana force.

Impact crater radius:

4 meters

SPIRAL CLOUD PASSAGE (Mana Variant)

A rotating high-speed blade technique enhanced with mana acceleration.

Hiruzen Sarutobi

and

Orochimaru

Kyro's current threat evaluation:

High Jonin Level

When using dragon augmentation:

Low Kage Level Burst Power

The system screen slowly faded.

Kyro rolled his shoulders.

He could feel the power inside him now.

Controlled.

Refined.

But still growing.

Across the training floor Miku stretched her arms behind her head, her toned wings flexing slightly.

She smiled mischievously.

"Well Master…"

She stepped onto the arena floor.

"Your stats look impressive."

Her golden eyes gleamed.

"But numbers don't win fights."

The cavern lights flickered as she raised her hands.

Illusion magic began forming around the arena.

Rock pillars shifted.

The ground changed shape.

A battlefield was forming.

Miku grinned.

"Let's see if you can actually beat me now."

Kyro smirked.

Mana began flowing through his body.

"Bring it on."

The frozen winds howled across the silent mountains of the Land of Frost.

Deep beneath the ice-covered peaks, Kyro's hidden fortress lived like a warm heartbeat inside the mountain.

Glowing crystals embedded into the cavern walls lit the massive underground training hall Miku had shaped years ago with her fae magic.

The floor was polished stone.

The ceiling arched high like a cathedral carved from ice and rock.

And in the center of the arena

Kyro stood calmly.

Across from him, Miku hovered a few inches above the ground, her wings fluttering lazily.

Her toned legs crossed slightly as she studied him with playful golden eyes.

"Master," she said sweetly, stretching her arms above her head. "It's been a while since we had a real spar."

Kyro rolled his neck.

Mana flowed quietly beneath his skin.

"You say that every time."

Miku giggled.

"Yes… but today I'm serious."

Her wings snapped open.

The cavern exploded into motion.

The moment the spar began, the air distorted.

Kyro vanished.

Void Step.

He appeared behind Miku in a blink, blade already cutting downward in a powerful Dragon Ichimonji.

But

She was already gone.

A ripple of illusion shimmered.

Miku reappeared above him, spinning gracefully in the air.

"Too slow~"

Her foot slammed down.

The impact cracked the stone beneath Kyro as he blocked with his forearm, sliding back across the floor.

Before he could stabilize

Three Mikus appeared.

Illusions.

But Kyro had trained against her magic for years.

His dragon eyes narrowed.

"Found you."

He launched forward.

Six mana afterimage clones burst from his movement.

The cavern filled with Kyros attacking from every direction.

Miku's eyes widened.

"Whoa.. !"

She flipped backward, laughing as she summoned vines of enchanted roots from the cavern floor.

Her environmental magic twisted the battlefield.

Stone pillars rose.

Roots lashed outward.

But Kyro tore through them.

Praying Strikes — Mana Variant.

A rapid storm of palm strikes shattered the vines and cracked the pillars like dry wood.

Miku darted past him, faster than most jonin could even perceive.

She reappeared behind him and wrapped her powerful thighs around his waist mid-movement, locking him in place.

"Got you!"

Kyro smirked.

"You sure?"

Mana exploded from his body.

His muscles expanded slightly as dragon reinforcement activated.

Miku gasped as he simply stood up with her still attached, lifting her with raw strength.

"Still cheating with dragon power!"

She laughed breathlessly.

Kyro grabbed her wrist and spun, flipping them both to the ground...

but Miku twisted at the last second.

She landed on top of him instead.

Pinned.

Her thighs locked around his waist.

Her wings fluttered smugly.

She leaned forward until their noses were inches apart.

"Still my win."

Kyro exhaled, chest rising under her weight.

"…For now."

She grinned.

Hours later…

Steam filled the enormous underground bath chamber Miku had built.

A massive natural hot spring pool glowed softly beneath magical crystals embedded in the walls.

Kyro leaned back against a smooth stone edge, the hot water easing his tired muscles.

Across from him, Miku floated lazily on the surface, her wings resting on the water like delicate petals.

She sighed happily.

"Six years…"

Kyro looked at her.

"Hmm?"

She smiled softly.

"We've been hiding here for six years now."

Kyro nodded slowly.

The training.

The growth.

The quiet peace away from the shinobi world.

But both of them knew it wouldn't last forever.

Miku swam closer, resting her chin on his shoulder.

"You've become really strong, Master."

Kyro chuckled.

"Still not stronger than you."

She smiled mischievously.

"Well… I am a 300-year-old fae."

Then she poked his chest.

"But you're catching up frighteningly fast."

They sat quietly in the warm water.

For a moment, the world felt peaceful.

But far away…

Someone else was thinking about Kyro.

Hidden Laboratory — Several Nations Away

Deep inside a hidden research facility, the pale figure of Orochimaru sat at a desk covered in scrolls.

A Root operative knelt before him.

"…three years ago the target was seen entering the Land of Frost."

The ninja lowered his head.

"He appeared injured. The female summon was supporting him, and recently we detected movement in land of frost..."

Orochimaru's golden eyes narrowed slowly.

A thin smile spread across his lips.

"So…"

His tongue slid slowly across his lower lip.

"…he survived the lingering effects of the poison.. ."

The poison he had crafted should have crippled even the strongest shinobi.

Yet Kyro had endured it.

Orochimaru leaned back in his chair, clearly delighted.

"How fascinating."

His fingers tapped the report.

"A body without chakra…"

"…but with immense physical strength."

"…and those summons... ."

His smile widened.

"I must have him ."

The Root ninja spoke again.

"We have not located him since."

Orochimaru chuckled softly.

"Oh he's there."

His golden eyes gleamed.

"Hiding."

"And growing stronger."

He closed the scroll carefully.

"But everything that grows… eventually returns to the world."

His smile turned predatory.

"And when he does…"

"…I will be waiting."

Six Years After the Orochimaru Battle

Back inside the frozen mountain fortress.

Kyro stood in the library chamber Miku had created.

Shelves of magical books filled the cavern.

Ancient texts from the system shop floated around him.

Kyro placed several new books onto a stone table.

Titles glowed with arcane runes.

Void Step — Advanced Spatial Mechanics

Dragon Furnace — Internal Mana Compression

Miku hovered beside him, curious.

"More upgrades?"

Kyro nodded.

"These techniques still have limits."

He tapped the Void Step book.

"Right now I teleport."

Then he tapped the Dragon Furnace text.

"But if I compress mana inside my core properly…"

His eyes gleamed slightly.

"I can push my body far beyond its normal limits."

Miku smiled.

"So you're evolving them."

Kyro nodded.

"Exactly."

He opened the first book.

Arcane diagrams filled the pages.

Space-folding techniques.

Mana vectors.

Spatial anchoring.

His eyes sharpened.

"…This is going to take years."

Miku laughed softly.

"Well…"

She floated onto his shoulder.

"Good thing we're in hiding."

Outside the mountain…

The frozen winds continued to howl.

But deep inside the fortress—

Kyro's power continued to grow.

And somewhere far away…

The shinobi world was slowly drifting toward the coming storm.

The Third Great Ninja War.
