Chapter 1 - The Magic

In this world, people send a princess away to a tower for safety until a prince arrives to help her and marry her. However, once Princess has lived through one life already. A prince rescued and married her, only for the arrogant prince to cost her the life of her own soul. Her name is Ary. Her personality in her first life was calm, respectful, and practically a role model for a noblewoman of birth. She always styled her brown hair just so, had every dress picked to complement her fair, light skin, and jewelry to match her molten gold eyes. When she was reborn, she had no intention of living that life again. When she opened her eyes and saw she was back in that tower, she got up and searched the castle to find something. In her first life, she was too set in how she was raised to look around the tower. She rummaged through old boxes and scrolls, finding spells and lessons on magic control. The young woman's eyes widened, and she smiled.

"This will be very useful." The woman said, gathering the scrolls and books. Once she had all she could carry, she laid them out on the floor. Her tiara slid from the top of her head. She took it off and looked at it. "No longer Ary, the princess of Starlight, now Ary, the wizard in her own right."

She threw her tiara at the wall, the point getting embedded in the stone wall.

"Oh, that was cool." Ary laughed and then went on to look around the tower to find something to wear and a staff to use. She took a look around and searched for something, and then she found some dark fabric. A cloak and a hat. She took hold and shook it. Dust erupted in the air. "Oh, gods!"

Ary coughed, waved her hand in front of her face, coughing from the stuffy dust. She went to her window in the tower and shook the cloak out the window like a madwoman. Once she was sure there was no dust left, she pulled her cloak back in, slid it over her shoulders, and slid her arms through the armholes. The cloak was surprisingly comfortable. She knows she will need to get new clothes to make her look better as a wizard. But she has no money. So she will need to work on that. Ary shook the hat out the window to remove the dust. She slid the hat on. There was a mirror near her, and she walked over to look in it. She was actually pleased with how she looked. Ary just needed her staff.

Ary dug through the boxes and items until she found a staff. It was tall and curved at the end. Ary got to work on reading the books and scrolls on magic and on how it worked. Simple magic bond forming needs stones that have magic inside them. A Fire Ruby, a Sea Saphir, a Glow Garnet, and an air pearl. Luckily, in this situation, there was an entire crate of these rare stones and items. Ary grabbed the items from the crate and looked at the instructions. She had to grind them together and make a paste to intact, to have any kind of connection with magic that is permanent. She found a mortar and pestle. She got to work grinding the stones in the mortar until the stones became a paste. It smelled like minerals, and Ary took a deep breath and poured the mixture in her mouth, eyes shut. The paste had an odd mineral taste. She swallowed it and shook her head; the taste was an odd aftertaste. Ary read the next part.

Ary saw a spell for a fireball, and Ary set up a spot in the tower to practice the spells in the books and scrolls. Ary used her staff and traced the symbol for fire, and she jutted her staff forward, sending a fireball at the wall, small but effective. Ary looked at the spell for water; it's the same actions as the fireball. Ary made the same actions, just with tracing the symbol for water, and put out the flames. Ary read more on magic and how it worked. The magic of this world is stronger with intent, or with strength in an emotion felt in certain situations. The stronger the emotion or intent, the stronger the magic level. Ary kept reading. The spells go from elemental spells to the summoning of creatures and spirits.

There were healing spells, trap spells, and even shapeshifting spells. Ary kept reading, seeing all the different spells, and began to practice them. She got better and better with every spell she used, and her intent and her excitement fed into her magic. She got more confident and continued to practice. Even after she got good at the spells, she stayed in the tower for a few days. On the fifth day of practicing, Ary sent a fireball into the lower base of the tower from the inside and broke through the wall of the tower.

Ary made her way out of the tower. In her last life, the arrogant prince who came to her would come in three days, so she left before he could come to her. She headed north; there are many places there in need of a wizard, and willing to pay. Ary wanted more in life than what her last life had for her. She knew she could do more than be a princess. And she wasn't going to let anyone stand in her way this time. She walked on and on for a few days.

Ary used her magic to move plants and trees, and covered herself when it rained. Ary kept going. She wasn't going to stop until she had a life set and ready as a wizard. Ary loved her new power, and she refused to let go of her new abilities or the second chance in this life she was gifted. She would often stop and conjure plants and trees, and collect some fruits to eat on her travels. She enjoyed what she could do along the way. The only town in the north that's close is about a week on foot.

There were no threats along the way, but many sinkholes and fallen trees that made it difficult to get through the woods. There would often be animals running through. Then, just ahead, Ary could hear screaming from an animal. Ary froze and listened in. Men were fighting with each other over something. Ary made her way over and peeked past some bushes. And there was a majestic deer, its coat as white as can be, beautiful glowing patterns, antlers that seemed to glow, and it was bigger than any bear Ary had ever seen in size in comparison. The deer's back left leg was pinned under rocks from a landslide.

Ary's eyes widened. Even in her last life, she had never seen something this stunning. The men close by were arguing over who would get the deer's carcass once it's dead. Ary felt furious and sent out a blast of wind, sending the men out into the woods.
