Guy dragged Shunsui the entire time as they finally reached one of the training grounds. It was on the outskirts of the village but near the forests and the Hokage faces carved into the mountain.
As they arrived, Shunsui noticed they were close to the Senju compound. The large traditional houses and training fields of the once-great clan were visible in the distance.
Speaking of the Senju, Shunsui thought, 'There are still quite a few of them in the village. Even in the academy there were quite a few kids with the Senju surname. It seems they did not get completely wiped out by other villages targeting them or Orochimaru experimenting on them or marrying into civilians and other clans. I guess that's why you should never rely on fanfic theories.' He had read so many stories in his previous life that claimed the Senju clan was nearly extinct after the founding of Konoha.
But here they were, still present and somewhat active. It was a good reminder that real life was always messier and more complicated than stories.
He continued thinking as Guy pulled him along. 'Maybe Hashirama and Tobirama had more distant relatives than people realized. Or perhaps some branches of the clan kept a lower profile to avoid being targeted during the wars. It makes sense. No powerful clan just disappears overnight unless something catastrophic happens. Still, it is funny how I spent so much time believing fan theories only to find out the Senju are doing just fine. I wonder if any of them still have Wood Release. Probably not, or the village would be shouting about it.'
'If I ever meet a Senju kid in the academy, I should ask them casually if they can grow trees. Though, they would either think I am crazy or report me to the teachers for suspicious behavior.'
As they reached the training grounds, he could see Team Minato training. Obito and Rin were sparring against Kakashi and clearly losing, just as Shunsui had expected, despite Kakashi being at least four years younger than them. Minato stood nearby, watching the fight.
"There he is... my ETERNAL RIVAL!" Guy shouted at the top of his lungs. His voice echoed through the entire training ground.
Team Minato's eyes turned toward them at once. They saw the familiar bowl-cut boy dragging another boy who wore an unusual pink kimono and a straw hat.
"You again?!" Kakashi said with what looked like an angry sigh. The silver-haired boy sounded tired already, as if Guy's presence alone drained his energy.
Guy grinned brightly, completely unbothered. "Yes! It is me again! Did you miss me, my eternal rival?"
Kakashi pinched the bridge of his nose. "How could I miss you when you show up every few days? What do you want this time? Another challenge to prove whose youth is stronger?"
Guy laughed loudly. "Not today, rival! Although my youth is clearly superior, I have come for a different reason. I want you to meet my friend and teammate!"
Guy patted Shunsui hard on the back, nearly pushing him forward. "This is Shunsui! He is on my team under Choza-sensei. He is strong, youthful and wears the most fashionable clothes ever!"
Shunsui adjusted his hat and gave a small wave. "Nice to meet you all. Sorry for the loud entrance. Guy does not understand the concept of speaking lightly."
Kakashi looked Shunsui up and down, especially noting the pink kimono and swords. "You actually wear that in public? On purpose?"
Obito burst out laughing. "Oh it is Shunsui! And you are still wearing that awful kimono as a shinobi." He made a yucky expression as if he had smelled something bad. "It looks like you stole it from your grandma's closet. Are you sure you are a ninja and not going to a tea ceremony?"
Shunsui looked Obito up and down slowly with a calm expression. His voice stayed lazy and even. "Says the guy who wears goggles. I have seen civilian kids learning to swim wear them. Do you think you are going to dive underwater during a fight? Or are they just to hide the fact that your eyes are always crying from losing to your teammate here?"
Obito's face turned red. "These goggles are to hide my Sharingan! It is called strategy!"
Shunsui raised an eyebrow. "Have you awakened your Sharingan even?"
Obito stuttered. "Um... uhh..."
Kakashi answered for him in a dry tone. "No. He has not."
Obito looked at Rin who was trying to hide her laugh, he then pointed at Shunsui angrily. "I challenge you, Shunsui, for a spar! The winner has the better fashion!!"
Minato appeared next to them in a flash. "Now that is a great idea. If I am not wrong, you are with Guy under Choza-san. It would be fun to see other genin of your age fight."
Shunsui thought, 'He is fast even without using Flying Raijin. That is the Yellow Flash for you.'
Guy tried to stop it. "There is no point of a spar."
Obito said mockingly, "Heheheh, are you scared that your teammate would lose to me?"
Guy looked at him confused and said innocently, "Why would I be scared of Shunsui losing? He is strong. But I am going to surpass him though."
Obito glared at Shunsui. "Then accept my duel!"
Shunsui let out a long, tired sigh. "Ah, the idiocy of youth. Very well. I accept your challenge."
Minato clapped his hands together. "Good! I will referee the match."
Both genin nodded and took their positions on the training ground. Obito pulled out a kunai and waited for Shunsui to draw his swords. Shunsui did not move to unsheathe his weapons. He simply stood there calmly.
Obito asked with a smirk, "Are you too scared to even unsheathe your weapons?"
Shunsui replied in his usual drawl, "Yare yare. So impatient. But why would I have to use my swords when I could just use my chakra pressure to crush you?"
Shunsui's eyes opened fully. A heavy wave of chakra pressure burst out from his body.
The air around him grew thick and heavy. Obito's legs buckled instantly. The Uchiha boy fell flat onto the ground with a loud thud, his face pressed against the dirt. He could not move. His body felt like it was being crushed by an invisible mountain.
Minato's eyes widened as he saw what just happened. The Yellow Flash took a small step forward, surprise clear on his face. He had not expected such a powerful display from a genin who had only recently graduated.
