Jayjay's POV
I wake up slowly.
Not because of sunlight.
Because of warmth.
The kind that wraps around you like it owns you.
For a few seconds, I don't move. I just feel.
The steady rise and fall beneath my cheek.A heartbeat against my ear.A hand resting at my waist — firm, possessive even in sleep.
Keifer.
My eyes open carefully.
The room is bathed in soft golden morning light, curtains slightly open. Dust particles float lazily in the air like the world itself decided to slow down.
He's asleep.
Actually asleep.
Not the light, guarded rest I remember. Not the half-alert tension he always carried.
His face is peaceful.
His lashes cast faint shadows against his skin. His mouth slightly parted. One arm around me like it stayed there even when his mind surrendered.
He looks younger like this.
Like the boy from high school who used to sit in the back row and stare at me like I was his favorite secret.
My fingers move before I can stop them.
They brush lightly against his jaw.
He doesn't wake.
I study him shamelessly.
The faint scar near his collarbone. The crease near his brow. The way his fingers twitch slightly against my waist like even asleep, he's afraid I'll vanish.
My heart does that stupid thing again.
"You're taking advantage of my sleep, right wifey?"
I gasp so hard I almost fall off the bed.
His lips twitch.
His eyes are still closed.
"YOU WERE AWAKE?!"
He finally opens one eye lazily.
"Define awake."
"You're unbelievable."
He pulls me closer before I can escape, the blanket tangling around us.
"You were staring," he accuses softly.
"You were drooling."
"I do not drool."
"You do. A little."
I roll my eyes aggressively and try to sit up.
He tightens his hold.
"Five minutes."
"I need oxygen."
"You're dramatic."
"You're heavy."
He hums in disagreement and buries his face into my neck.
My body reacts before my brain does.
"Keifer."
"Yes?"
"Behave."
He lifts his head slightly, smirking.
"You're the one who said 'stay with me tonight.'"
I narrow my eyes.
"That was emotional vulnerability. Don't misuse it."
His gaze softens unexpectedly.
"I wouldn't."
That tone.
That sincerity.
I look away first.
He studies me openly now.
"You look different this morning."
"How?"
"Less guarded."
"Incorrect."
"Still lying easily."
I shove him lightly.
He catches my wrist.
Not forcefully.
Just enough to pull me closer.
His voice lowers.
"Good morning, my queen."
My breath stutters.
"Stop saying that."
"Why?"
"Because you say it like I matter."
His eyes darken slightly.
"You do."
The silence that follows isn't awkward.
It's heavy.
Then he leans in.
The kiss is slow.
Gentle.
Warm.
Nothing like last night's desperation.
This one feels like a promise whispered instead of declared.
I melt into it before remembering I have pride.
I pull back first.
"That's enough."
"For now," he corrects.
I glare.
He smiles like he won something.
"I'm showering," I announce, escaping the bed.
"Take your time."
"Why?"
"So I can admire the view when you walk back."
"Shameless."
"Honest."
I shut the bathroom door on his laughter — but I'm smiling.
Keifer's POV
The sound of water running upstairs does something dangerous to my focus.
I shake my head and head downstairs instead.
Cooking feels… domestic.
Almost ironic.
Mafia heir making breakfast like a suburban husband.
But if she walks down and smells coffee and cinnamon and butter — maybe she'll associate this place with warmth instead of power.
My phone rings.
Aries.
Of course.
I answer without greeting.
"You vanished," he says immediately.
"You noticed."
"I'm not blind."
Silence.
"…Is she with you?"
I glance toward the stairs.
"Yes."
Another silence.
This one protective.
"Is she okay?"
"She's okay."
"What happened?"
"We talked."
"And?"
"We're not fixed. But we're trying."
He exhales.
"She's still hurt."
"I know."
"You deserve it."
"I know."
That quiets him.
"I'm serious, Keifer. She rebuilt herself without you. Don't destabilize her."
"I won't."
"Go slow."
"I am."
"And if you break her again—"
"I won't survive it either."
That makes him pause.
"…Fine. But she needs us too."
I already know what that means.
Before I respond—
"KEIFERRR?"
Her voice echoes from upstairs.
Aries sighs softly.
"Talk later."
He hangs up.
I smile before I can stop myself.
Jayjay's POV
I walk downstairs wearing one of his oversized shirts.
His eyes flick up.
And freeze.
"What?" I ask.
"You're wearing my shirt."
"It was available."
"You look… illegal."
I roll my eyes.
"Control yourself."
"Trying."
The kitchen smells warm.
Coffee. Toast. Something buttery.
"You cooked all this?"
"Yes."
"Voluntarily?"
"Yes."
I sit at the counter.
He slides a plate toward me.
"Careful," he says. "It's hot."
"Are you flirting or warning me?"
"Both."
I take a bite.
"…This is actually good."
He leans casually against the counter.
"I can do many things."
"Name three."
He smirks.
"Cook. Lead an empire. And still make you blush."
I choke on air.
"I am not blushing."
"You are."
"I'm not."
"You're doing the thing."
"What thing?"
"The pretending-you-don't-feel-anything thing."
I glare.
He looks amused.
"Remember senior year?" he says suddenly.
"No."
"Yes you do."
"Nope."
"You accidentally sent me a love quote instead of sending it to your friend."
I freeze.
"That was sabotage."
"You wrote 'if he ever leaves me, I'll burn the world.'"
"I was dramatic."
"You were in love."
I point a fork at him.
"YOU walked into the boys' washroom because you were staring at me."
He nods.
"Worth it."
I burst out laughing.
Full.
Unfiltered.
He watches me like he just won a war.
Then—
Casually.
"By the way. Section-E and Aries are landing tomorrow."
The laugh dies in my throat.
"…What."
"I invited them."
I stand slowly.
"You what?"
"They're flying to NYC."
"You're insane."
"You said you'd think about it."
"I didn't say yes!"
"You didn't say no."
"MARK KEIFER WATSON."
He smiles.
"Yes, wifey?"
"Don't call me that when I'm about to commit murder."
He steps closer calmly.
"You need closure."
"You don't get to decide that!"
"I don't decide," he says quietly. "I just know you."
My heart pounds.
Old memories. Old wounds.
"They land tomorrow?"
"Yes."
I run a hand through my hair.
"You are unbelievable."
"And yet," he murmurs softly, stepping closer, "you stayed."
That hits.
I hate that it hits.
"This isn't over."
"I hope not."
I storm toward the living room dramatically.
Behind me, I hear him chuckle.
And I realize something terrifying—
Chaos looks good on us.
A/N- Guyss I asked a question to you alll pls comment and tell me your answer..
