KAYLA'S POV:
I was lying in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, lost in my thoughts when suddenly my phone beeped beside me.
I picked it up lazily, expecting it to be some useless notification, but my eyes widened when I saw the message.
It was from Cicily, my new manager.
My jaw tightened as I read the message.
She was resigning.
I had hired her just last month after my previous manager quit, and ever since then she had been on leave almost every single day.
First it was because of her parents.
Then her siblings.
Then her husband.
Then her children.
This woman had spent more time on leave than actually working at the hotel.
Which meant tomorrow…
I had to go there myself.
I growled in frustration and threw my phone onto the bed.
"Oh God…"
I rubbed my face roughly.
"Finally I had a chance to get closer to him, and now God is making ways to take him away from me."
I stared at the ceiling again, annoyance burning inside me.
"God… what's your deal, huh?"
I scoffed bitterly.
"First you make me obsessed with someone… then you take them away like it's nothing?"
I groaned loudly and buried my face in the pillow.
Next morning
I dressed up the way I always do.
Elegant.
Sharp.
Fashionable.
Like the powerful female leads from K-dramas.
My heels clicked against the marble floor as I walked out, my sunglasses resting perfectly on my face.
I got into my car and drove toward the hotel.
And as usual…
I drove recklessly.
Not because I couldn't drive.
But because I simply didn't care.
Why do people act like laws matter when the rich can easily walk away from them?
If you haven't broken a few rules in this world…
Then maybe you aren't rich enough.
A wicked smirk spread across my lips behind the dark lenses.
I turned into the parking lot and parked carelessly, nearly knocking over the warning signs placed there.
The sign tilted sideways as my car stopped.
