Chapter 68 - CHAPTER 68: Know Something

ANNA'S POV:

I got to class earlier than usual that morning.

Thesw hallway incident with Mia was still fresh in my mind, but I'd shoved it aside for now. There was no point dwelling on it. The idiots got what they deserved, Mia was safe, and if they were smart, they'd stay far away from her from now on.

If they weren't smart… well

That would be their problem.

I walked into the classroom, the quiet morning atmosphere wrapping around me as I headed toward my seat. Only a few students had arrived so far. The room still carried that sleepy, half-awake energy of an early class, chairs scraping against the floor, faint chatter in the background, the rustle of bags and notebooks.

I dropped into my seat and leaned back slightly, letting out a slow breath.

Then the classroom door opened.

And in walked Sevi.

The moment he stepped inside, his eyes landed on me.

Mine landed on him at the exact same time.

Silence.

Not the peaceful kind.

The suspicious kind.

Our gazes locked from across the room like two criminals who had just realized they'd both witnessed the same murder and now needed to figure out whether the other one was a threat.

I narrowed my eyes.

He narrowed his.

The realization hit me almost instantly.

Sevi was Theo's best friend.

Which meant…

If Theo had told anyone about his tragic little love story and mysterious heartbreak…

It would be him.

And judging by the way Sevi was staring at me, he had clearly come to the exact same conclusion.

Neither of us moved.

Neither of us blinked.

The tension stretched for a few long seconds.

Then, at the exact same time, we both spoke.

"Do you know something?"

"Do you know something?"

We both froze.

Then we both gasped dramatically, pointing at each other like we had just exposed a conspiracy.

"You definitely know something!"

"You definitely know something!"

I slapped a hand against my desk.

"Damn!"

Sevi ran a hand through his hair in frustration.

"Okay, wait...." he said quickly, marching over to my desk. "We both know something. But do you know what I know, or do you know something I don't know, and I know something you don't know, and...."

I held up a hand.

"Stop."

He blinked.

"Stop with the brainrot," I said flatly. "You're hurting my brain."

He looked offended.

"I'm trying to solve a mystery here."

"You're making it worse."

I crossed my arms and leaned back in my chair.

"Just tell me what you know, and I'll tell you what I know. Simple."
