Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Me Killing Myself

"What happened to you two?"

Sengoku Chihiro looked at the two beautiful girls who seemed half-asleep in front of her and asked with concern.

"Last night, did a lot of things with Mio." Mashiro leaned against Shirai Mio, saying hazily.

"Indeed." Shirai Mio was too lazy to even explain this easily misunderstood statement. Chihiro probably wouldn't misunderstand anyway.

"No wonder you came out of Mashiro's room today. I thought I forgot to lock my door last night." Perhaps infected by the two sleepy girls, Sengoku Chihiro couldn't help yawning as well.

In the end, it was Shirai Mio who forced herself to perk up and wake the two of them so they wouldn't be late.

Walking into the classroom and sitting down, just as Shirai Mio was about to close her eyes and rest briefly before class started, Yuigahama Yui came over and asked, "Mio, are you okay?"

"It's nothing, I just stayed up a bit late last night." Shirai Mio glanced at Yuigahama's shapely figure and couldn't help thinking how nice it would be to sleep while hugging Yuigahama.

Just then, the system's voice suddenly rang out: "After analyzing your physiological responses, I have reason to suspect you're harboring improper thoughts about Yuigahama Yui."

"No, I'm not, I didn't."

"Explaining is just covering up. Doesn't your considerate little system need to issue you a task for some motorboating?"

"No thanks."

Though motorboating was tempting, obtaining it through a task just didn't feel right.

Moreover, through these two days of observing the system, Shirai Mio had discovered it seemingly couldn't issue tasks at will. Otherwise, given how much time she'd spent with Yuigahama yesterday and the system's chaos-loving nature, there's no way it would've only issued one task.

However, she still hadn't discovered any pattern to when the system issued tasks. It felt completely random.

After chatting briefly with Yuigahama, the class bell rang.

Unable to understand a word the teacher was saying, Shirai Mio pulled out an unused notebook and started drawing adult art.

That's right—adult art.

She who used to only know how to ask veteran drivers in chat groups for resources never imagined she'd one day become a resource producer herself. Finally, she could draw her favorite white-haired, red-eyed beautiful girl's adult art!

Just as Shirai Mio was about to start drawing, her movements suddenly froze. A white-haired beautiful girl... why did it feel like she was drawing adult art of herself?

No way. She'd change the protagonist to a flat-chested blonde twin-tailed tsundere beautiful girl instead.

As for why she was drawing these things?

Of course it wasn't because she wanted to get off to them—she'd just been thinking it over and realized that getting Eriri to voluntarily reveal her Kashiwagi Eri identity seemed pretty much impossible. But what if it was someone with the same hobbies as her?

So Shirai Mio thought that before Eriri's social death, she could proactively have a social death moment in front of her first, letting Eriri know she also drew 18+ content. Maybe there'd be some unexpected gains.

And even if Eriri remained unmoved, she wouldn't really lose anything—at most the task would just fail.

Either way, before giving up, she had to at least try to see if the task could be completed.

Fortunately, the desks at this school were single-person, with no desk-mate situation, and her seat was in the very back row. As long as she was careful not to let the teacher notice, there shouldn't be any problems.

Despite having never really practiced drawing before, after gaining [Shiina Mashiro's Drawing Skills], not only did Shirai Mio's mind fill with drawing-related knowledge, but her hands moved without any awkwardness. Though it was an un-upgraded skill and couldn't compare to Mashiro, after a few revisions, Shirai Mio still managed to produce a line sketch she was fairly satisfied with.

This was just a test run. After all, her goal wasn't simply to draw adult art, but to draw doujinshi.

Before transmigrating, though Shirai Mio had never drawn doujinshi, she'd read plenty of them. The one that left the deepest impression should be...

Not knowing what she thought of, Shirai Mio's previously enthusiastic mood suddenly became depressed. Even the adult art she'd just drawn lost its appeal, as if she'd been struck by some blow and instantly entered sage mode.

"Mio, are you really okay?" Looking at the depressed Shirai Mio, Yuigahama asked with concern.

This morning, Mio had just seemed sleepy, but after one class period, something had happened that left her like this.

"I'm... I'm fine." Shirai Mio forced the corners of her mouth up into a strained smile. She could hardly tell Yuigahama that she'd accidentally stabbed herself in the heart.

Always skilled at reading the room, Yuigahama clearly sensed that Shirai Mio had some unspeakable difficulty, so she didn't press further and changed the subject instead. "By the way, I haven't asked you yet—what time and where should we meet tomorrow?"

"It's a day off, so we don't need to be too early. I'll come find you around ten. It's on the way anyway." Shirai Mio thought for a moment before answering.

"Speaking of which, I still don't know where you live."

"The place where I live... I can't really explain it clearly either. How about you come sit at my place after school?"

"This afternoon... I need to take Sable for a bath and nail trimming. Next time, when there's a chance."

Though Yuigahama was curious about where Shirai Mio lived.

"Okay."

Perhaps infected by Yuigahama's energy, Shirai Mio's mood finally recovered during class. She pulled out her notebook again and started honing her drawing skills.

The practice continued until school let out. Before she'd even finished packing up, Shirai Mio noticed Mashiro had appeared beside her at some point, silently watching her.

Good thing she'd put away the notebook as soon as class ended. Otherwise, if Mashiro had seen what she was drawing, her image in Mashiro's eyes might have completely collapsed.

But speaking of which, what kind of image did she have in Mashiro's eyes anyway?

"Go back. Write script."

"Wait, what about your club activities today?"

"Asked for leave."

"Is it really okay to ask for leave on just the second day?"

"No problem."

"So you've decided to partner with me?"

"I want to try."

"Then let's head back."
