Chapter 30: The Twelve Immortal Bodies (Part 2)
Your Life Wheel and Life Palace, however, are another matter. If you are born with an Innate Life Wheel, you will always have an Innate Life Wheel. If you are born with an Imperial Life, you will always have an Imperial Life! This cannot be changed. No matter how powerful you become, even if you become an Immortal Emperor, it is impossible to alter—unless you were to change your very fate!
For Cultivation, one's physique, Life Wheel, and Life Palace are all indispensable; each is incredibly important. Physique determines the quality of your bones and body, the Life Wheel determines the abundance of your Blood Qi, and the Life Palace determines your innate talent and comprehension.
For example, if you possess a Holy Wheel, your Blood Qi will be as abundant as a Vast Sea. When practicing the same Cultivation Technique, not only will you progress faster than others, but your power will also be greater.
Li Qiye slowly read and comprehended the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique, gradually recovering all of its Mystical Meanings. In truth, the Secret Manuals for the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique preserved within the Xiyan Ancient Sect were complete and flawless. However, the Mystical Meanings that Li Qiye knew and had extrapolated were far more profound than what was in these manuals!
The Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique had an extraordinary origin. In fact, Li Qiye had poured countless efforts into this Cultivation Technique. In the early years of the era of All Emperors, he had once considered having Mingren Immortal Emperor cultivate this art, but he later gave up on the idea.
In the distant Desolate Era, both the Human Race and the Demon Race were weak creatures. For the sake of survival, countless Elder Sages threw themselves into the fray, one after another, creating innumerable Cultivation Techniques that ultimately ushered in an age of prosperity.
In that remote Desolate Era, a peerlessly brilliant Elder Sage created a fast-track Longevity Technique: the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique. This genius was truly one of a kind. This Cultivation Technique indeed allowed for rapid progress; in the early stages of Cultivation, a Cultivator could use their own Blood Qi to drive their Life Soul, quickly increasing their Dao Practice.
However, the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique had a fatal flaw. In the early stages, abundant Blood Qi could indeed act as an engine to drive one's Dao Practice. But as the Dao Practice grew stronger, one's personal Blood Qi could no longer sustain the Cultivation of the Life Soul technique. At this point, it would lead to insufficient Blood Qi and stagnated Dao Practice. Forcing oneself to continue cultivating could even shorten one's lifespan!
During the Desolate Era, Li Qiye obtained this Cultivation Technique. He had taught it to many people, but none were able to cultivate it to Perfection. In order to improve this Cultivation Technique, Li Qiye could be said to have spent countless efforts. Later, he even enlisted several Immortal Emperors to participate in its refinement, such as Blood Seal Immortal Emperor, Mingren Immortal Emperor, and Tun Ri Immortal Emperor.
It wasn't until the time of the Black Dragon King that Li Qiye truly perfected the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique. Today, as Li Qiye slowly studied and comprehended the Secret Manuals for the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique in his hands, all the memories related to its Mystical Meanings were gradually recovered. These erased memories slowly resurfaced in his mind.
Finally, the complete Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique existed in Li Qiye's mind. After putting away the Secret Manuals, he couldn't help but take a deep breath.
Although the process didn't take long, how could the world possibly know how much effort Li Qiye had spent on the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique over millions of years? And who could know how many Elder Sages of the Human Race had sacrificed themselves, one after another, for the sake of this technique?
In fact, after Li Qiye left these Secret Manuals at the Xiyan Ancient Sect, many of its geniuses had also attempted this Cultivation Technique, but in the end, no one was able to cultivate it to Perfection.
Li Qiye spent three full days and nights comprehending the Kunpeng Six Transformations and the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique.
「Three days later」
Nan Huairun had not yet returned. However, Li Qiye was in no hurry to pick out a Treasure Artifact and began his Cultivation on the Solitary Peak.
Li Qiye had sorted out the two Cultivation Techniques—the Longevity Technique and the Life Technique. Once everything was ready, he began his Cultivation. When it came to Cultivation, Li Qiye was immensely experienced. Although his innate talent was poor, no one could compare to him in terms of experience.
However, even though Li Qiye now possessed heaven-defying Cultivation Techniques like the Kunpeng Six Transformations and the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique, he was not eager for quick success. He cultivated methodically, step by step. He knew that rushing for results would leave hidden dangers on his long Great Dao of Cultivation.
Li Qiye cultivated the Kunpeng Six Transformations and the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique simultaneously. However, the two were unrelated and did not interact with each other.
The Kunpeng Six Transformations was a Life Technique for protecting one's life and felling enemies, while the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique was a Longevity Technique for extending one's life and nourishing one's blood. One cultivated the Life Palace, the other cultivated the Life Wheel. In the early stages, they could be cultivated independently of each other.
Cultivation Techniques can be divided into four categories. First, Longevity Techniques for extending life and nourishing blood. Second, Life Techniques for protecting one's life and felling enemies. Third, Body Techniques for forging the body and cleansing the marrow. Fourth, Heavenly Destiny Secret Skills for shouldering the Celestial Mandate!
There is another type of Cultivation Technique, which some call a Foundation Establishment Heart Method, or a basic Heart Technique. This kind of Heart Technique is all-purpose; it integrates nourishing the blood, protecting one's life, and forging the body into one. A single one of these Cultivation Techniques can cultivate the Life Wheel, Life Palace, and physique all at once!
Although this type of Heart Technique is all-purpose, most are considered relatively low-level. Their power is limited, and it is difficult to reach an incomparably powerful realm by cultivating them.
Cultivation Techniques also have ranks. For example, a technique created by an existence on the level of the Nine Saints Celestial Demon—the Primordial Ancestor of the Nine Saints Demon Gate and an incomparably powerful Great Sage—is called a Great Sage Technique. As for techniques created by an Immortal Emperor, they are called Immortal Emperor's Techniques or Emperor Techniques!
With the same physique and the same innate talent, if the Cultivation Technique one cultivates is different, their Dao Practice will likely be different as well. In the same amount of time, someone cultivating an Emperor Technique will certainly become stronger than someone cultivating a Great Sage Technique.
As for a Heavenly Destiny Secret Skill, that goes without saying. This is a Secret Technique for shouldering the Celestial Mandate, and it is unimaginably heaven-defying.
Of course, a Cultivation Technique isn't everything. Without a firm Dao Heart, everything is ultimately meaningless. Throughout the ages, how many geniuses have suffered a Misfire and fallen into madness because they cultivated a heaven-defying technique and had smooth sailing on their Great Dao of cultivation? Or, some peerlessly brilliant geniuses cultivated Immortal Emperor's Techniques from birth, yet when it came time to compete for the Celestial Mandate, they were unable to create their own Heavenly Destiny Secret Skill and became failures of their generation.
Li Qiye understood these great principles of Cultivation better than anyone. Thus, even though he held countless secrets, when it came to his own Cultivation, he still proceeded methodically, step by step!
Li Qiye cultivated both arts at once. As he activated his Life Wheel using the True Technique of the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique, the effects were immediately apparent. Slowly, rings of light appeared behind his head. Like the Annual Rings of a tree, they cycled one after another. As the Life Wheel turned, his Blood Qi ebbed and flowed within it.
The Blood Qi followed the flow of the Life Wheel, like river water driven by a water wheel, gurgling softly and flowing without end.
Blood Qi is the foundation of a person's health. If one's Blood Qi weakens, they will age, sicken, and die.
Li Qiye was born with a Mortal Wheel, so his Innate advantage in this area was very weak. His Blood Qi could only be described as a small pool. Thus, as his Life Wheel ebbed and flowed, his Blood Qi merely trickled without cease.
If it were someone with an Innate Life Wheel or an Imperial Wheel, their Blood Qi would surge like a great river. This is especially true for someone with a Saint-Level Life Wheel; their Blood Qi would roar like the very sea!
Li Qiye used his Intention to drive the True Technique of the Kunpeng Six Transformations, knocking on his Life Palace again and again. Everyone has their own Life Palace.
The Life Palace is the resting place of one's True Destiny, as well as what Mortals refer to as the home of the soul. The Life Palace is hidden within the Mud Palace Acupoint. As Li Qiye knocked with the True Technique of the Kunpeng Six Transformations, the Life Palace slowly emerged, appearing from within the Mud Palace Acupoint.
When the Life Palace appeared, it was simple and elegant, as crystalline as jade. But Li Qiye possessed only a Mortal Life; his Life Palace merely pulsed with a faint luster.
If it were someone with an Imperial Life, their Life Palace would emit thick, long rays of yellow light. Such a Life Palace is extremely domineering. Li Qiye, with only a Mortal Life, had no Innate advantage in his Life Palace to compare with someone of Holy Destiny.
The Life Palace is closed, and the soul lies dormant. Only by knocking open the Life Palace, awakening the soul, and connecting with the Power of Life can one cultivate the Foundation Establishment Dao!
Therefore, the first realm for a Cultivator is the Palace Knocking Realm. The Palace Knocking Realm is further divided into three minor levels, which, from lowest to highest, are: First Knock Sect, Second Awakening, and Third Blood Surge.
The 'Knock' in First Knock Sect refers to knocking on the gate of the Life Palace, allowing the Life Technique's True Technique to enter. This Cultivation process is like a Buddha's Son kowtowing before the Buddha time and time again. Only through constant effort, knock after knock, can one open the gate of the Life Palace once it responds.
Li Qiye used the Kunpeng Six Transformations Cultivation Technique to strike the gate of his Life Palace again and again. KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK… The sound of the repeated impacts echoed endlessly in Li Qiye's mind.
He struck again and again. Li Qiye used the True Technique to strike ceaselessly. He had no idea if he had struck thousands of times, but the Life Palace still hadn't responded. Even so, Li Qiye didn't stop. He just kept striking, again and again.
For a genius, especially someone with a Holy Destiny, striking the gate of the Life Palace is far too easy. Their Life Souls are powerful and respond readily. Legend has it that there was once a person with a Holy Destiny who opened the gate to their Life Palace with a single strike.
Such a person is a genius among geniuses. Of course, Li Qiye was not that kind of genius. Therefore, he needed to try again and again. Only through countless attempts could he hope to achieve success.
In truth, Li Qiye had other methods to open the gate of his Life Palace in a single attempt. He could use the Moon Vortex Sun Wheel Technique to channel all of his Blood Qi, using it as fuel to drive the True Technique of the Kunpeng Six Transformations. With the overwhelming power of his Blood Qi, he could blast open the gate. Wielding the might of his Blood Qi, Li Qiye could indeed open the Life Palace gate in one go.
But Li Qiye didn't do this. Doing so would leave behind hidden dangers. He had a Mortal Life, and his Blood Qi was not strong to begin with. Forcibly channeling it would damage his Life Wheel, and using it to force the gate open would startle his Life Soul. Although this method would result in rapid Cultivation speed, it would create latent problems for his future Cultivation path.
Therefore, Li Qiye focused on building a solid foundation. With an unwavering Dao Heart, he struck the gate of his Life Palace again and again. Even if it took ten thousand strikes, or a hundred thousand, he would keep striking until his Life Palace responded.
