He reached out and hugged his mother again, gently patting her back. "Mom, you don't have to say anything. I get it. If you want to cry, just cry. I know you're hurting. It's okay that Dad doesn't remember you. You still have me."

Seeing how her son had let his imagination run wild, she gave a dry laugh and said, "Son, is it possible you're overthinking this? Things aren't as bad as you imagine."
Aaron Sinclair grabbed his mother's arm and took a step back to look at her. "Really? Mom, what's going on with Dad? How could he just forget you out of the blue? What about me? Does he still remember me?"
"What do you think? Hah!" Celeste Grant glanced up at him and threw up her hands. "Your own father doesn't even remember me. How could he possibly remember you?"
