"Mom."
Her voice caught in a sob as she spoke.
She took a step forward.
And then another, until she stood right before her.
The woman froze. "You… what did you call me?"
"Mom."
Once she'd said it, she suddenly realized that saying the word "Mom" wasn't as hard as she'd imagined. It just came out naturally.
The blind woman stared blankly, as if she'd forgotten how to react. Her hand instinctively reached out, fumbling until it grasped Nana Warren's arm. "Who are you? Why… why are you calling me Mom?"
"Mom… it's me, Mom…"
As she spoke, Nana Warren wrapped her arms around her.
"I'm your real daughter."
Suddenly being hugged and called "Mom," the blind woman's guide cane CLATTERED to the ground. Her mind went completely blank.
'What is she saying?'
'What is this girl talking about?'
'This girl says she's my real daughter. How is that possible?'
