"I passed out right after giving birth. I was taken to the hospital, and when I woke up, my sister-in-law and I were both in the hospital ward. Our babies were lying in the small cribs beside us." She even remembered feeling touched at the time, thinking about how her sister-in-law, despite being so weak herself, had gotten out of bed to help her through the delivery.
As she said this, the realization dawned on her. "So it was her… She was the one who switched my daughter, wasn't she? But why would she do something like that?"
Hearing this, Nana Warren had already figured it out. "Is that even a question? How did that daughter of yours die?"
Hearing this, Mae Grant froze for a moment before speaking. "My daughter was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect right after she was born." As she finished, Mae Grant seemed to understand everything in a flash. Her eyes widened and her hands trembled. "Why? Why would she do this to me?"
Nana Warren clenched her fists.
