After Evangeline left, the smile on Drake's face vanished.
His golden-red eyes looked toward Julian. Seeing his silence, he said in a low voice, "Perhaps you should have made things clear."
Julian paused, a stiff smile playing on his lips. "She already rejected me a long time ago. What difference would making it any clearer make? Brother, I don't have any other desires right now. As long as our people can survive, and you can be happy, there's nothing more I could ask for."
Drake's lips pressed into a tight line. In the end, he didn't know how to comfort Julian.
He knew his female well. For Eva, unless she truly liked someone and was willing to accept them, no one could change her mind. It seemed that, to her, only the males who had been by her side through hardship could be considered her mates.
