Faye Vaughn stood up and walked over to Wyatt Hawthorne. "Did something happen at the hospital?"
Wyatt Hawthorne didn't answer her. He gave her a dark look and said flatly, "It's nothing. You rest here."
Faye Vaughn didn't believe him.
But his attitude was clear. He wasn't going to let her know.
"Okay, I want a salad. I'm hungry." Faye Vaughn sat back down, rubbing her stomach and looking starved. "I haven't had a proper meal all day."
Wyatt Hawthorne narrowed his eyes. Her sudden obedience was unusual.
Just now, Vince had called to tell him that Joanna Linden was dead.
Resuscitation efforts had failed. She had been pronounced dead.
There was no need to let Faye Vaughn know about this.
Wyatt Hawthorne pressed the intercom button. "Go buy a salad. And Miss Vaughn will be staying in the office until I get back."
The implication was that he was trapping Faye Vaughn here.
