"Holy crap, Han Ning, Teacher Liu... did you two kill all these people on the ground?"
The students who walked past the dismembered limbs of the Shan State militants only paled slightly upon seeing the bloody corpses scattered across the ground before quickly regaining their composure.
After seeing all sorts of rotting corpses and Soul Beasts attacking people, they had all developed a certain tolerance for the sight of dead bodies.
"Yes. They're the ones who crippled Luo Chen. They were an extremely dangerous group of people," Han Ning said, walking around the bodies toward the supply car. "This is the only car with supplies. The others are full of dead bodies. If you want to sleep soundly tonight, I suggest you don't just run over and look."
Of course, as soon as he said that, a few students couldn't help their curiosity. They crept up to the window of the adjacent car and peered inside.
"BLEGH!!"
Instantly, a chorus of dry heaving erupted outside.
Han Ning felt a little helpless. 'If I didn't warn them, I was worried someone would accidentally wander in there and get attacked by the leeches. But now that I have, this is what happens.'
Those bloodsucking leeches didn't contain much Energy. He had tried killing one and gotten less than 0.01 Energy for it. They couldn't even be considered Soul Beasts, so risking an encounter to clear them out was a thankless task.
"Everyone, stop looking and come help move supplies!"
Just then, Teacher Xiuning, who was responsible for keeping order, clapped their hands, signaling for everyone to enter the car.
Han Ning was also extremely curious about what supplies were in the car.
He walked over to a stack of supply crates and lifted the lid of a dark green one.
Rows of dark green cans of beef lay silently inside.
'??? No guns?'
Han Ning's expression was a sight to behold. He walked over to another stack and opened a crate.
White sugar, energy bars, chocolate, self-heating rice meals.
He opened several more crates in a row.
He discovered they were all filled with either food or medical supplies.
This was a far cry from the train car full of military hardware he had imagined.
'Well, food and medical supplies are fine too...' Han Ning shook his head, silently chiding himself for his greed. Having food was already great, and besides, there were more than a dozen usable rifles right outside.
The supply crates only filled about two-thirds of the car. The remaining third was fairly empty and looked like the resting area for the militants.
In a corner, Han Ning also discovered two very special crates. Opening them, he found five rifles and a box full of ammunition—a pleasant surprise.
Next, about thirty students worked together, each carrying a crate of supplies weighing at least fifty-five pounds, and headed toward the school's South Gate.
The other ten students took the newly acquired rifles and were responsible for protecting the rest of the group.
On the way back, they were attacked by a few Demon Eye Frogs and Leeches, but under the suppressing fire from Yin Yi and the automatic rifles, the fierce Soul Beasts blocking their path were all riddled with holes.
...
By the time they had emptied the train car of supplies, it was nearly noon.
Aside from the diesel fuel in the locomotives and some important mechanical parts they didn't take, the train held little remaining value for them.
Han Ning returned to his dorm building and first went to check on his two roommates and Teacher Zhou.
After two days of recovery, the injuries of Lin Tianhe and Chen Linyu were no longer serious. With another two or three days of rest, they would be able to go out exploring again.
As for Teacher Zhou, because Dr. Chen wasn't very familiar with setting bones, the fracture had healed, but it still looked a bit awkward. It was possible there might be some lingering side effects in the future.
But in an environment so scarce of medical resources, there wasn't much that could be done.
After all, this was the School of Engineering, not a medical school; there were simply too few doctors.
Inside the dorm room.
"Yin Yi, you worked hard this morning." Han Ning placed Yin Yi on his lap and gently stroked the flower on its head.
"BOBO~" Yin Yi flicked its now-slender Vine Whip, pointing at the phone on the desk.
"??? You want to use the phone?"
"BO!" With a SNAP, Yin Yi brought two of its vines together, as if it were a Ninja performing a hand seal.
"Alright, I get it."
Han Ning's expression turned odd. 'If Yin Yi could really learn some of Thousand Hands Hashirama's skills from watching videos, that wouldn't be a bad thing at all.'
'If Yin Yi could one day unleash Hashirama's Flower Tree Realm Descent or True Thousand Hands, the sight would be absolutely spectacular.'
He unlocked his phone and resumed playing the Naruto anime for Yin Yi. He then took out one of the newly acquired self-heating meals, had a quick curry beef and rice to replenish his energy, and called up his status panel.

'4.2 Energy can be exchanged for 2 Spiritual Attribute Points. I'll add them and see what happens.'
He knew Spiritual Energy was good stuff, but the black worms that contained it were rather hard to find.
So many people had died on that train, but only a few dozen bodies had reanimated. Considering there had been at least a thousand people on board, it meant the black worms were quite rare.
The black worms were not the same species as the big, oily black leeches. To this day, he still didn't know where the worms came from.
Han Ning converted the energy into 2 Spiritual Attribute Points and mentally commanded, 'Allocate points!'
Suddenly,
a faint, cool sensation entered his brain from an unknown source.
It felt like chugging a bottle of ice-cold Coke on the hottest day of summer. The exhaustion from his busy morning was instantly swept away, more effective than any number of Red Bulls could ever be.
Han Ning instinctively closed his eyes, leaned back in his soft chair, and quietly savored the sensation.
Time seemed to stretch and compress; it felt as if a long time had passed, and yet only an instant.
The feeling of relief was like finally having explosive diarrhea after being constipated for ages.
HAAAAH...
'Soooo good~'
His body even felt a little lighter.
When he felt the cool sensation in his brain fade completely, he slowly opened his eyes.
He turned his head to look out the window.
The ever-present, hazy white fog outside seemed to have thinned slightly. His gaze felt like it could pierce the mist, allowing him to see farther into the distance.
He looked at his panel again.

Other than his mind feeling clearer, his body didn't seem to have changed in any significant way.
Han Ning looked down and clenched his fist. He didn't feel any stronger.
The most noticeable change was his vision. Before, in the foggy, low-light conditions, he could only see about 100 meters ahead. Now, he could see a bit farther, to roughly 120 meters.
It wasn't just that he could see farther; his vision also seemed to have gained a hint of penetrative power.
