The cat was a black-and-white Lion Cat with heterochromia, and the dog was a black pastoral dog.
As Renee Jennings drew near, the cat and dog sensed her unique, pleasant scent. They both got up from the ground and stared at her curiously.
"Meow, this human smells so good."
"Woof, she seems like a good human."
Renee Jennings chuckled at their words. "You two are so cute, and smart, too. You're right, I'm a good human now."
The Lion Cat was an extrovert. It walked right up to Renee Jennings with a sense of familiarity, pawing at her skirt in a blatant plea for cuddles.
"Good human, how can you understand meows and woofs?" the Lion Cat asked, staring at her curiously with its mismatched blue and yellow eyes.
"It's my superpower." Renee Jennings bent down, scooped the cat into her arms, and then crouched in front of the black dog. She smiled and said, "What were you two talking about just now? Can you tell me?"
