By the time Ji Huan woke up, the sun was already high in the sky.
"Shoot!"
She scrambled out of bed, threw on her clothes, and ran into the kitchen to wash up, only to find Guan Shan tending the stove.
"You're up? I made some congee. It'll be ready to eat once you've washed up."
"Eat? How can I eat? Look what time it is!" Ji Huan smacked her own forehead in frustration. "How could I have overslept? And you didn't wake me! It's over. The braised goods haven't been sent out yet. It'll be too late by the time we get to Yeyang."
"If it's already too late, then there's no need to rush."
"Easy for you to say. Business was going so well, and suddenly stopping for a day will really hurt our reputation... How did I oversleep? I shouldn't have..."
Guan Shan pulled the last piece of firewood from the stove, stood up, and placed his hands on the flustered Ji Huan's shoulders to steady her.
"Yesterday morning, I delivered a two-day supply to Yeyang."
