In the courtroom, the gavel struck, but the clamor continued unabated.
Pan Jiadao frowned as he looked at the crowd of onlookers, which was several times larger than usual.
Bailiffs holding staves received a signal, walked over, and formed a line facing the onlookers. The crowd immediately fell silent.
Ji Xiu'e, dressed in prisoner's clothes, was brought out from the cells. Initially listless and gloomy, her lifeless eyes suddenly burst with a fierce light the moment she saw Ji Huan.
She dropped to her knees with a THUD and cried out, "Your Honor! You can't let them go again! They killed my son! How can you imprison only me? They killed my son! They deserve to be beheaded..."
Pan Jiadao slammed the gavel again.
"Silence! This court will reach its own verdict. Call the witnesses."
As soon as he finished speaking, government officials brought three more people into the hall.
