Once everything was settled, the supervisor quickly had a contract drawn up and sent over.
[Entertainment Division Supervisor: Take a look at the contract. If there are no issues, you can go ahead and upload the relevant documents.]
Sophie Wexler hadn't expected them to be so fast. She received the file and started reading. Having signed quite a few contracts before, she was familiar with the typical loopholes and tricky clauses, and only felt at ease after carefully confirming there were no problems.
But there was one thing. [Can I stay off-camera?]
Sophie Wexler typed out the message and sent it.
The reply came quickly: [Entertainment Division Supervisor: Why? You'll get more traffic if you're on camera. Or are you saying you're not good-looking?]
Before he could even figure out the reason, she sent over another file with her personal information and related documents already uploaded. It would need the platform's approval before the contract could be signed.
Sophie Wexler: [Take a look at my info first.]
The supervisor opened it, and a second later, his eyes went wide. "Sophie Wexler?!"
'Wait, who did you say you are?'
'Sophie Wexler!'
'How is that possible!'
He had considered countless possibilities, but never in his wildest dreams did he imagine the person on the other end was Sophie Wexler.
This person's singing was so beautiful. How could she possibly be Sophie Wexler, the one with that awful croaking voice?!
Anyone in the Starwind entertainment circle knew about Sophie Wexler's scandals. She loved to stir up trouble, had zero professional skills, and was always causing drama. After the most recent incident, her reputation in the industry was in tatters.
The supervisor's brain felt like it was about to short-circuit. He simply couldn't connect *that* Sophie Wexler with the beautiful singing voice he had just heard. He couldn't believe the person he was about to sign was actually Sophie Wexler!
Refusing to believe it, he stared at the photo on her profile again and again, practically burning a hole through the screen, before he finally accepted that this person was, in fact, Sophie Wexler.
If it was Sophie Wexler, he instantly understood why she didn't want to be on camera. If she showed her face, she'd be flamed to death.
For a moment, he actually hesitated. Should he sign her? After all, her reputation was terrible.
But then he thought of the song from earlier, and finally, he gritted his teeth and made up his mind.
'Sign her!'
'I don't know why her singing was so bad before, but it's incredible now.'
'As for her identity... she's not going on camera anyway. As long as the audience doesn't know she's Sophie Wexler, it'll be fine!'
The main thing was, he truly believed this person had the potential to be a huge hit. Plus, she was a Healer-class. Not signing her would be the platform's loss.
Once he'd made his decision, he sent the stamped contract back to Sophie Wexler and replied to her message.
[Supervisor: So it's you, Miss Wexler. We agree to your request. You can stay off-camera.]
Sophie Wexler had actually considered that he might back out after seeing her real identity and refuse to sign her. After all, "Sophie Wexler" was reviled across the entire internet. She hadn't expected him to agree.
Since he had already agreed to her condition, Sophie Wexler readily signed the contract and sent it back.
The contract was now official.
However, there was one more thing the supervisor felt he needed to ask.
[Entertainment Division Supervisor: If I may ask, can your singing really soothe a turbulent Spiritual Sea?]
After all, this issue had caused a huge uproar in the stream, so it was better to ask and be clear. He was also puzzled as to whether Sophie Wexler, as an F-level Healer-class, truly possessed such an ability.
If she really could, their platform would have struck gold.
Sophie Wexler paused for a moment when she saw the question, then replied.
[I'm not sure, but I don't think so. It might be because of the songs themselves. Some have gentle rhythms that are naturally relaxing. It probably just created an illusion for them, rather than actually soothing their Spiritual Seas.]
'After all, I'm only an F-level Healer-class.'
[Entertainment Division Supervisor: I see.]
'Still,' he thought, 'even if it can't soothe them, being able to relax people with just a song is already impressive.'
[Entertainment Division Supervisor: Well, we're very happy to have you join our platform. I hope we'll have a pleasant collaboration.]
[Sophie Wexler: Likewise.]
[Sophie Wexler: So, could you unban my stream now?]
Only then did the supervisor realize her stream was still banned.
[Entertainment Division Supervisor: Of course! We'll unban it for you right away!]
———
Meanwhile, as Sophie Wexler was communicating with the platform, the audience was staring at the suddenly black screen.
They were stunned for a couple of seconds. What happened? Was she banned?
Once it sank in, many people immediately started flaming in the chat.
[See? I told you this streamer was a fraud. What now? The platform banned her.]
[Hiring bots to claim her singing can soothe the Spiritual Sea? What a joke.]
[I bet she was trying to pass herself off as a Healer-class, HAHAHAHA. As if.]
Healer-class individuals were rare and naturally generated a lot of buzz. The entire platform only had a few, and they were all big-name streamers. Who did she think she was?
Despite the flood of negative comments, there were still some people defending Sophie Wexler.
[She never once said it was "soothing," nor did she ever claim to be a Healer-class. Where are all these bots coming from, ganging up on an unsigned streamer like this?]
[I just want to listen to the streamer sing. Can all you trolls who are turning the chat into a toxic cesspool just get lost?]
[To be fair, the streamer's songs are the most beautiful I've ever heard. I'm just a normal person without awakened spiritual power, so I don't know anything about "soothing," but I do know her songs make me feel at ease and relaxed.]
[Yeah, me too. I've had insomnia for ages, and this streamer is the only reason I've been able to sleep soundly. What right do you have to curse her out? If she's gone, where am I supposed to go to listen to music?]
But these comments were insignificant compared to the tidal wave of insults and were quickly drowned out.
[The streamer got banned... she's probably not going to stream anymore, is she?]
[Serves her right. She deserved to be banned.]
[And what was that instrument she was using? Some relic The Galaxy threw out. It sounded awful.]
[I knew this stream was trash from the start. And look, she got banned. My guess is, it's a permanent ban.]
The people who genuinely liked Sophie Wexler's singing were furious when they saw these comments and were about to argue back.
Suddenly, the black screen of the stream lit up!
The moment the screen came back on, Sophie Wexler reappeared on camera, holding her guitar. Only the very bottom of her chin was visible as she spoke. "Sorry about that, everyone. We just had a minor issue."
The instant the stream came back online, the viewers who liked Sophie Wexler erupted in celebration. All the frustration they'd felt from hearing the stream was "permanently banned" burst out at once.
[All you barking dogs from before, open your damn eyes and look! Who was it that said the stream was banned for good? Say it again, I dare you!]
[I'm planting myself right here today. I'd like to see anyone try to insult my hidden gem of a streamer. I'll flame them into oblivion!]
[So what if she's unbanned? The platform just gave her a short ban this time. You're a dishonest streamer, using this "soothing" crap for attention. The platform will definitely ban you again.]
[That's right! You'll definitely be completely blacklisted and permanently banned by the platform! Just you wait! You want a contract? In your dreams!]
But the very next second...
A line of large, red text scrolled across the top of Sophie Wexler's stream from an official account: [This stream was banned due to an operational error by a platform staff member. The ban has now been lifted. We apologize for the negative experience this has caused.]
Everyone in the stream was collectively dumbfounded.
The audience: Huh?!
'The platform is officially apologizing?'
Before they could process that, another notification scrolled across the top of the stream.
[Congratulations on becoming a contracted platform streamer!]
At the same time, a "Contracted" icon appeared on Sophie Wexler's profile picture.
The audience: HUH?!!
And there was even a special symbol appended to it.
It was the unique icon for a Healer-class streamer.
Everyone: HUH?!!!
'What kind of insane plot twist is this?!'
