"Calling someone else a mortal girl... aren't you one yourself? You're just a bit of a spellcasting genius, a bit of a quirky spirit, and more than just a little thick-skinned," King Yama grumbled under his breath.
Lin Pei pretended not to hear, grabbing Xin Huohuo's hand with something close to glee. "Now that you're here, let's hurry inside. My master and martial uncle have been scolding me nonstop, blaming me for giving you such a terrible idea. But now that you're really here, it's a total slap in the face to certain people. Haha, we'll see who was right and who was wrong!"
Then she turned back to King Yama with a cheeky grin. "Sir, thank you for your trouble. Could you bend the rules for us now?"
"Hmph. You know as well as I do that the prison isn't a place one can just enter. Not without a written order from me, or my personal presence," King Yama said irritably, flicking his sleeves before striding up the steps first.
The three girls followed close behind.
