In the vast sea of humanity, this sprawling mortal world, finding a single person was an incredibly difficult task.
However, if you knew that person's exact location, getting there was much simpler in modern society. Even if it meant going abroad, it was an easy feat for a team-up between a former police officer like Xiang Xiaoxue and a former tour guide like Xin Huohuo.
And so, at dusk on the third day, Xin Huohuo set foot on Demon Island.
She had first arrived on the main island as a tourist, then hired a private plane to fly here. From the aircraft, she watched the orange-yellow sun sink slowly below the horizon as if submerging itself in the water, dyeing the line where sea met sky in vast swaths of magenta. The scenery was magnificent and breathtaking, but her heart was squeezed into a tiny, breathless knot of anxiety.
"Miss, what are you doing coming to Demon Island all by yourself?" the dark-skinned local pilot asked in English.
