The Lishui Sub-Department had two main Government Office Hall buildings, both courtyard-style structures with surrounding corridors. The Chief Constable's Government Office Hall was on the Third Floor of the left building. Ji Jingbei's office was spacious and bright, with a large terrace on the northeast side that commanded a wide view. From inside the room, the terrace offered an unobstructed view of Jishui Lake.
When Chen Cheng entered, Ji Jingbei was standing ramrod straight before the terrace, gazing out toward Jishui Lake.
He was tall and burly, dressed in a blue, cloud-patterned uniform with a Long Saber at his waist. Even from behind, he cut an imposing figure.
Chen Cheng followed his gaze out from the terrace. The lake was vast and its waters a deep blue. A few towered pleasure boats and painted barges floated not far from the shore. Further out, merchant ships and fishing boats of all sizes plied back and forth, creating a bustling scene.
