Gu Shengsheng finally understood completely. This ancient painting wasn't so much a famous Han Dynasty masterpiece as it was a print from that era that someone had later traced over.
Later, the artwork fell into the hands of Sima Xiangru, and it was he who personally inscribed these lines of poetry on it.
Gu Shengsheng carefully examined the characters on it.
She patiently studied them one by one, then wrote them down on a piece of paper.
"I hear you now have a divided heart, and so I've come to say farewell."
"A hundred thoughts, a thousand yearnings, in utter helplessness I resent my love."
As Gu Shengsheng muttered to herself, the research staff across from her were already starting to look disdainful.
"Miss Gu, what's your take on this?" the blonde, blue-eyed female researcher across from her demanded aggressively. "Or do you not understand it at all and are just staring blankly?"
