Jane Sterling couldn't help but let out a soft laugh. She didn't overthink it. The same aunts from yesterday were bustling about in the kitchen, looking as though they were preparing a grand feast.
Drew Thorne walked in, clad in a heavy down jacket with a hat on his head. Several men of similar height trailed behind him.
Once inside, Drew Thorne took off his hat and patted it gently.
He set his down jacket aside and walked up to Jane Sterling.
"You're awake. We'll be able to eat in a little while."
The young men behind him were the same ones she had seen yesterday.
By all rights, they should have been calling Drew Thorne "Uncle" or something similar. It seemed his seniority here was quite high.
"Why don't you hang out with them for a bit? I have some business to take care of."
Drew Thorne said suddenly, sounding a bit apologetic. The men looked secretive and avoided her gaze, which Jane Sterling found a little strange.
