Chu Yao's eyes went wide. She couldn't believe what she had just heard.
Was that something Lu Xize would actually say?
An impulse flashed through Chu Yao's mind, and by the time she came to her senses, her hand was already pressed against Lu Xize's forehead.
He must be running a fever, right? He had to be.
Sure enough, it did feel a little warm.
The hint of a smile in Lu Xize's eyes deepened. He had just been busy in the kitchen, standing in front of the stove; it was perfectly normal for his forehead to be a little warm.
Ding. A soft chime came from the kitchen—the sound of the rice cooker finishing.
"I'll go get the rice."
Lu Xize got up. Chu Yao was still reeling, her face burning. After a few seconds, she snuck a peek at the man, who now had his back to her.
