Chapter 1 - Chapter One: The Time-Traveling Wizard

Blue Rain Madou Xiaoling peaceful 08 Little Demon Koala Xiaojun Akiki

The summer sun streamed through the windows, bathing the already sweltering classroom in its peeling paint, making it even more stifling.

The old fan overhead creaked under its strain, its sound mingling with the monotonous voice of the Black female teacher at the podium, creating a lullaby that lulled everyone to sleep.

Most of the students listlessly tilted their heads, their eyes vacant as they stared at the podium, trying to stay awake. Others

, however, had already succumbed to sleep, fast asleep.

Among them, the most striking figure was undoubtedly a Chinese-American boy, about sixteen or seventeen years old. Sunlight shone on his long, flaxen hair, highlighting his high nose bridge and chiseled, handsome face. Though still somewhat youthful, his features were beginning to exude a wild, mature charm.

Being punished by standing in the corner, even as he struggled to support his towering frame, far exceeding that of the average Chinese-American, his exhaustion was undeniable. Leaning against the wall, his eyelids drooped, as if he might fall asleep at any moment.

  Ding ding ding…

Finally, the clear sound of the school bell broke the dull atmosphere in the classroom.

A group of listless boys and girls seemed to be doused with cold water, instantly waking up, and the entire classroom instantly transformed into a music festival, becoming incredibly lively.

The black female teacher, used to this, showed no reaction whatsoever, simply saying "Class dismissed," and then swaying her plump buttocks as she walked out of the classroom in her seven-centimeter high heels.

In the large classroom, the only thing that remained unchanged was probably the Chinese boy leaning against the wall, looking exhausted.

Exhaustion and drowsiness, like a tide, overwhelmed Gu Zhongyan's senses, making him want to fall asleep uncontrollably, even his standing posture couldn't stop his fatigue.

If it weren't for the support of the wall, he probably would already be asleep.

In a daze, a voice rang in his ears, briefly reviving his blurred consciousness.

  "Sean? Sean?"

His heavy eyelids felt like they weighed a ton, and Gu Zhongyan struggled to open them a crack.

In his vision, a freckled white boy was looking at him with concern.

"Sean? Are you alright? Class is over."

  Sean? Who's that?

Heavy sleepiness slowed Gu Zhongyan's thoughts.

It took him a while to realize—yes, he'd transmigrated again. Sean was his current name.

The white boy before him was his current friend, Richard Reed.

That's right, this wasn't Gu Zhongyan's first time transmigrating.

The original Gu Zhongyan was just an ordinary working-class boy in China, living a mundane life, occasionally indulging in small fantasies.

Then, a chance trip led to an accident that transported him to the world of Harry Potter. He became a newly enrolled wizard at Hufflepuff School.

However, he didn't transmigrate to the beginning of the story, but rather to the end.

Yet, transmigrating to the magical world didn't excite Gu Zhongyan as he had imagined.

Instead, he felt only a profound sense of disorientation.

Everyone fantasizes about traveling through time, reaching the pinnacle of life, and escaping the dull, even repulsive, reality.

But once you actually travel through time, the feeling of being detached and cut off from the world repeatedly reminds you that this is not your world.

At that moment, Gu Zhongyan truly understood why those older generations of Chinese who had achieved success overseas had such a strong longing to return to their roots.

From that day on, returning home became the most important thing in Gu Zhongyan's life.

He began to study all kinds of magic and magical items frantically, trying to find any possible way to return to his original world.

Many wizards said that he didn't act like a Hufflepuff, but more like a Ravenclaw.

Gu Zhongyan, however, felt that perhaps he was a born Hufflepuff.

Or rather, most Chinese people are born Hufflepuffs—resilient, honest, fearless, and never giving up. Seemingly ordinary, yet capable of unleashing unimaginable power. Like

Jingwei filling the sea and Yu Gong moving mountains, he turned the impossible into the possible.

Gu Zhongyan's madness finally led him to a possibility of breaking down the barriers between worlds.

In the end, he succeeded, yet he also failed.

After giving everything, he successfully broke down the barriers between worlds.

But after all that, he didn't return to his beloved China. Instead, he appeared on the other side of the ocean in New York, becoming Sean Gu, an American of Chinese descent raised by Father Langton Ebert.

Initially, he thought he had simply been transported to a different country.

However, he soon discovered that things weren't so simple.

Through the original owner's memories, he realized that America was America, but not the America he knew.

  Here, there was the massive Stark Industries, which had signed numerous arms contracts with the Department of Defense;

  there was the technologically advanced Osborn Corporation, dedicated to bio-regeneration technology;

there was the Daily Bugle, with a circulation of tens of millions, claiming that there was no secret they couldn't uncover.

  ...

This was the Marvel universe, teeming with superheroes.

Like the magical world, the Marvel universe was a fantasy world that attracted countless fans.

But compared to the fairytale-like magical world, the Marvel universe was definitely the least suitable world to transmigrate to.

In other worlds, as long as you avoided some dangerous plots, you could basically stay away from danger.

But the Marvel universe was different. In real America, there was the joke, "Free America, shootings every day," not to mention the Marvel universe, filled with superheroes and supervillains.

Shootings, explosions, death, and world-ending destruction were commonplace.

Ordinary people living in the Marvel universe, especially in New York City, its center, never know when they might die a violent death.

Moreover, avoiding New York doesn't guarantee safety.

After all, in the later stages of the Marvel universe, cataclysmic disasters are commonplace, often reaching planetary, cosmic, or even multiverse levels, meaning that no matter where one escapes, the inevitable destruction remains.

Such a world is a tremendous challenge for anyone.

What troubles Gu Zhongyan even more is that he has almost completely lost his magic after transmigrating to this world.

Currently, aside from Occlumency, he can't cast a single real spell.

In this dangerous world, losing magic is tantamount to surrendering one's life to fate. Whether for returning home or for surviving in this world, regaining his power is crucial for Gu Zhongyan.

This is why he has been constantly trying to restore his magic, leading to his exhaustion from the continuous depletion of his energy.
