"KUUUUUURRRWAAAAAAAAAA!!!"
Laito was falling into what seemed like a bottomless abyss.
He didn't like that fact one bit. To the point that his old lingual habits surfaced for the first time after over 10 years, in the form of the arguably most versatile swear word in the world.
After escaping from the clutches of a horrific shade bat, he found himself in quite a pickle, just plummeting down without an idea where the ground was.
Apparently the answer was either "far away", or "there's no ground".
After Laito calmed down, he made sure that the Spell he prepared earlier was still ready to cast. Thankfully, it was, which was also quite reassuring.
He turned himself in the air to where he thought "up" was to make sure whether the swarm of giant shade bats he escaped from by a hair, was pursuing him.
They were not.
With that out of the mind Laito spinned around a few times to reassess his surroundings.
There were no surroundings. No walls, no nothing. Just a pitch black darkness pierced by light coming off from Mana coursing through Laito's body.
Speaking of which: the itching has spread from his veins into his entire body. Not just skin, but muscles, organs and bones too!
The light also got particularly strong, turning more white than blue as it was at the beginning.
The time was running out.
The good news was: said light still guided the reincarnator boy in the same direction where he was rapidly heading.
Straight downwards.
Descending like that… At first it was scary, but then after a few minutes…
'Boring' He thought.
Nothing was happening.
[1 Hour later]
'What is this!?! No way I've got myself in the same situation Sunny was after he jumped off the Chained Islands.' Laito was pondering the connection between his current circumstances and something that happened within the novel he was kinda living at the very moment.
There was a problem with that possibility:
'I don't have anything to eat! I knew that I should have pestered Fang more to make me that storage Memory I asked from him. FOUR! MONTHS! AGO! But noooooo~. He was busy with these stupid "Will grenades".'
'Damn it. I hope that I will reach something before I starve to death.'
As Laito thought that, a certain anomaly, one that he somehow ignored up to this point, has attracted his attention.
'It's cold.'
Very cold.
And yet, he wasn't feeling cold at all.
The temperature around Laito was already far below freezing point and steadily dropping the deeper he fell.
Still: he wasn't bothered.
He realized that it was not only light now that his body was giving off under the influence of Mana, at that point.
But also heat.
The amount of heat that was capable of countering the present cold, that would probably kill him very fast if he was in normal state.
Although then without this cold, the heat coming off from his body would cause him to basically cook himself alive… to death.
It was a delicate balance.
'No matter. I can only be vigilant and look out for approaching ground… if there's any… There is nothing more I can do for now.' Laito thought and he was correct in that for a change.
So he kept falling.
The strong white light that the entirety of his small body was producing, made the lone boy look quite similar to a shooting star falling into Darkness, if there was anyone to look in his direction from a distance.
But there was no one to do that.
He was alone.

[2 Hours later]
Laito was still going down.
At this point he basically turned into a living(barely) halogen lamp. Even in that all-encompassing close to absolute zero cold, he felt hot. He had to improvise some Word Shaping to create himself a bubble of breathable air, lest he would suffocate some time ago.
Everything in his body was swollen. Everything there was in pain. That included his Mind… his brain too, but mostly his Mind itself. It felt weird and abstract, but his thoughts and memories(actual ones not the magical items) felt heavy and painful. The same could be said about Laito's very Soul.
The pain would have driven him mad up to this point, to fight that he kept himself busy, to distract himself a bit.
Laito positioned himself so that he would face the direction the gravity(or some other force, it was difficult to tell, in universe where natural laws liked to fuck around) so that he would prepare himself for "landing" before it happened.
He has spent the past 2 hours researching another Spell from Tome of Warding, while maintaining that position.
In the past half-a-year since he received that Book from Font of Wisdom, he managed to research only two proper Spells despite sacrificing vast majority of his time for it.
But within these 2 hours, even with his normal thoughts heavy, the Mana that permeated Laito's being was unknowingly resonating with enigmatic Tome.
He gained an understanding of another Spell from the Book.
When he realized that, he got so excited that he almost lost grip on the Spell he had kept, prepared to cast on moment notice, this whole time.
Luckily, because if he did lose that Spell at that very moment he would have died.
It was the moment when his [Keen Sigh] registered the fast approaching "ground".
This "ground" looked anything but normal.
Quite horrific even.
Actually it was not the "ground" itself that looked scary.
But what was below it.

[3,5 years left until MHA plot beginning]
[Chapter End] The story is not over yet

Author notes:
Just a few more chaps guys.
No more than 3!, I promise!
Seriously: The trial is at its last legs(for those impatient).
Why have I decided to make it so long and all?
"The bigger the challenge the greater the reward."
After that: appraisal, new powers… and back to the MHA world!(Of course that is only if MC lives on instead of dying miserably, as it is shaping up to end like at this moment).
It feels quite surreal after this long.
Anyways.
See ya soon!
