Bram swallowed.
And for the first time since I had met him, he actually looked confused, or at least genuinely unsettled. Maybe it was my imagination playing tricks under the golden lantern light. Maybe it wasn't.
Because right now, every instinct in my body was screaming at full volume that something very dangerous was about to unfold.
Thorne took a single step forward.
Just one.
Yet somehow, the entire courtyard reacted like it had been physically struck by lightning. The laughter died instantly. Conversations halted mid-sentence. Even the distant music seemed to fade into nothing, as if the world itself had decided to hold its breath in collective anticipation.
"Are you…"
His voice was quiet.
Dangerously quiet.
"…out of your damn mind?" he repeated, each word laced with barely restrained fury.
I had to admit... Thorne was really overreacting.
