Sora's POV
"What?!" he blurted out. "What did I do this time?"
"I told you not to cross the line!" I snapped, the words coming out sharper than I intended.
"What the heck, Sora," he shot back. "I'm not crossing anything. I just feel bad for the dogs. They don't deserve this. Why are you twisting everything I say?"
"Because—" I started, but he didn't let me finish.
"You know what? Fine," he said, exhaling hard. "I'll walk them myself. One at a time, if I have to." Then his voice softened, dropping into something quieter, more careful. "If you'll allow it. I just want to spend time with them. Even if they're not mine. Especially Beongae, he reminds me of my sister's poodle."
He looked at me then, smiled slightly. "This isn't about you and me, Sora. It's about them."
The fight drained out of me all at once.
