Jiho's question, and mine, hung in the air long after we left the hospital.
Unanswered.
Unresolved.
And the one person who could give us clarity was still lying unconscious in a hospital bed, trapped somewhere between silence and truth.
We had no choice but to leave it that way.
For now…
We headed to River's wake with a heaviness that no one bothered to put into words.
Yeongjae didn't come with us. He chose to stay behind, wanting to be there the moment Yuri woke up, and none of us argued. If anything, it felt right… Like whatever answers were waiting would begin with her.
Jiho had arranged everything efficiently, as always.
The funeral place was just a few minutes away from the hospital, close enough for River's brother to be transported back and forth for a few hours each day. Even in grief, Jiho made sure no one was left struggling alone.
That was just who he was.
But no amount of preparation could soften what waited for us inside.
