Chapter 3 - CHAPTER THREE

He waved his hand.

"I accept."

Forget it.

This is none of my business.

As long as he survives the Truth Seer.

Caspian leaned back in his chair.

However, a certain thought appeared in his mind.

'Sea Sky Planet... Maybe I should visit it with my empress someday?'

' No, what am I thinking? Idon't even have time for vacations.'

A brief pause.

Actually, if Evander were the emperor...

Caspian immediately cut off the thought.

'No, I shouldn't think about this. I'm still a responsible older brother.'

'...But Evander would definitely be better at paperwork.' His expression remained cold and majestic lost in thought...

The ministers watching him silently thought:

'His Majesty looks extremely serious.'

They had no idea their emperor was currently debating the benefits of retirement.

Caspian ordered, snapping out of his thoughts.

"Begin."

The command was given.

The staff member operating the Truth Seer took a deep breath.

This was no ordinary interrogation.

Yu Weiwei, however, remained calm.

To him, this was simply the final step.

Once the Truth Seer confirmed that he had not lied, once everyone understood that his shattered Mental Core could truly be restored, everything would be resolved.

He would be able to return to the peaceful life he wanted.

Simple.

Logical.

Completely reasonable.

At least, that was how it appeared inside Yu Weiwei's mind.

If the system that had accompanied him for years were here, it would probably want to pry open Yu Weiwei's head just to understand what was inside.

Not because Yu Weiwei lacked intelligence.

Quite the opposite.

His understanding of cultivation, energy systems, and ancient techniques surpassed even the greatest experts of this era.

He could discover truths hidden for thousands of years from incomplete records.

But when it came to human nature...

Yu Weiwei's judgment was far less impressive.

He understood how to repair a shattered Mental Core.

He understood the science behind Mental Power.

He understood the connection between the ancient path of cultivation and the modern awakening system.

What he did not understand was why revealing such a discovery in front of the entire Empire might be dangerous.

To him, he was simply proving the truth.

To everyone else...

He was revealing the existence of a power that could overturn the foundation of civilization.

Why was Yu Weiwei so confident even though the Truth Seer was something everyone feared?

The Truth Seer was truly dangerous.

But the universe had never been so simple.

It was said that a person could only awaken once, at the age of eighteen.

That was only half the truth.

There had always been another possibility.

A shattered Mental Core.

Throughout history, countless researchers had attempted to reconstruct one. They exhausted priceless resources, developed countless technologies, and conducted experiments that pushed the limits of modern science.

Yet every attempt ended in failure.

Eventually, the conclusion became common knowledge.

A shattered Mental Core was a dead end.

There was no second awakening.

There never would be.

...

That was the truth of this world.

Not his.

Yu Weiwei slowly closed his eyes.

The reason everyone believed it was impossible was simple.

They had been searching for the answer in the wrong direction.

Humanity had once known another path.

A path that existed long before Mental Power.

A path known as cultivation.

After Earth was lost, that ancient inheritance had nearly vanished. The surviving records were incomplete, and the knowledge of Spiritual Power gradually faded into history.

The people of the Interstellar Empire still possessed the fragments of that forgotten civilization.

They knew the existence of power beyond ordinary understanding.

They simply no longer knew how to reach it.

But Yu Weiwei had been given the chance to walk that path in another world.

He had cultivated.

He had experienced Spiritual Power firsthand.

He knew what the people of this era had overlooked.

A Mental Core was not the origin of power.

It was a vessel.

Mental Power was not the foundation.

It was the result.

The reason countless researchers failed to reconstruct a shattered Mental Core was because they were trying to rebuild the tree using only the fruit it produced.

They were missing the root.

Spiritual Power.

A faint smile appeared on Yu Weiwei's face.

"They have been trying to repair the fruit..."

"When they should have been nurturing the root."

Mental Power could strengthen an existing Mental Core.

It could stabilize it.

It could repair minor damage.

But once the core was completely shattered, no amount of Mental Power could bring it back.

Because what was broken was not merely the structure.

It was the foundation.

Taking a slow breath, Yu Weiwei turned his focus inward.

The cultivation technique that had been engraved into his soul over countless years began to circulate.

He had once thought that returning to this world meant leaving cultivation behind.

But now he realized...

The universe had never abandoned that path.

It had only forgotten it.

Silence filled his consciousness.

For a moment, nothing happened.

The Spiritual Power in this world was incredibly faint.

Far too weak compared to the cultivation world he once knew.

An ordinary person would never notice it.

Even modern technology could not detect it.

But Yu Weiwei was different.

His divine sense spread outward, patiently searching through the invisible flow of energy around him.

One strand.

Then another.

Finally...

A tiny wisp of Spiritual Power answered his call.

It was so faint that it could barely be considered energy.

Yet to Yu Weiwei, it was unmistakable.

A familiar presence.

A forgotten truth.

A path that humanity had lost.

A smile slowly appeared on his lips.

"So it was here all along..."

Humanity had not lost Spiritual Power.

They had only forgotten how to perceive it.

But Yu Weiwei smile was a sign of madness to the people watching him. Some felt pity and some was terrified for him

This was a person's mind being opened completely.

There was no turning back.

The Truth Seer fully activated.

Buzz—

A low sound echoed throughout the courtroom.

Blue light flowed through the countless tubes connected to Yu Weiwei.

The cables attached to his head began absorbing his Mental Energy.

The livestream comments became quieter.

Even those who hated Yu Weiwei couldn't help but feel nervous.

The Truth Seer had existed for thousands of years.

It had exposed countless criminals.

But it had also destroyed countless minds.

Yu Weiwei closed his eyes.

The moment the machine connected with his Mental Sea...

A terrifying pressure descended, and pain coursed through his entire being, from his physical body to the depths of his soul.

Yu Weiwei almost let out a scream of agony, but he held it back.

As the power of the Truth Seer began to probe his mental sea, his Mental Core trembled under the immense force that had invaded its domain. Fine cracks spread across its surface.

The Truth Seer continued exploring his mental sea, where Yu Weiwei's memories were stored, but it soon came upon a tightly sealed door. It tried to force its way through, but the immense pressure on his Mental Core caused a portion of it to shatter.

Yet Yu Weiwei endured.

Although he was inherently aware of people's thoughts and actions, he knew that exposing his rebirth was something that could never be allowed. With the little spiritual power he had managed to gather, he sealed away the memories of his previous life.

The Truth Seer seemed displeased by his resistance. It slammed into the sealed door again with overwhelming force.

His Mental Core could no longer withstand the assault.

It shattered into countless fragments.

The excruciating pain from his shattered core nearly made him lose consciousness, but he stubbornly held on, groaning in agony as blood streamed from his eyes, nose, ears, and mouth.

The Truth Seer seemed to realize that it had reached a forbidden area. It withdrew and continued exploring the rest of his memories instead.

Once it had finished, the Truth Seer gradually settled down.

The staff monitoring its readings saw that everything had stabilized and gave a nod to the judge.

The comment section, which had been eerily quiet, suddenly came alive again.

{ Is he alright...? }

{ I suddenly don't want to know the truth anymore. If learning the truth means having your Mental Core destroyed, then it's not worth it. } Another comment appeared, the frustration behind it unmistakable.

{ Why are you sympathizing with him? He deserves to die! Why isn't he dead yet?! How dare he blaspheme our Yu Darling?! } another comment dripped with hatred.

{ Upstairs, if following an idol means becoming someone like you, then I'd rather not. }

{ I know, right? Yu Yuan's fan club is so toxic. They attack anyone who says anything against their Yu Darling. }

{ Are you all crazy? Why are you sympathizing with a murderer? If standing against Yu Weiwei makes me the bad guy, then gladly. }

The argument between Yu Yuan's fans and the passers-by erupted without warning.

Si Tian stared at Yu Weiwei in disbelief.

To be honest, he had still believed Yu Weiwei was merely playing hard to get and would stop the Truth Seer before it truly began.
