Chapter 131 -  It’s All Because There Isn’t Enough Love

Standing in front of his dorm room door, Tōru Asakusa stopped.

"..."

Curled up like an abandoned kitten, hugging her knees and squatting right in front of his door, the girl radiated an unmistakably gloomy aura of displeasure.

The windbreaker and mask she usually wore were nowhere to be seen.

Even though this was exactly the situation where she should have been disguising herself, she didn't bother hiding at all.

A strong "keep strangers away" vibe seeped into the hallway.

"…You're blocking the way."

Asakusa crouched down and spoke to Kikyō Kushida, who was sulking there.

Was she blocking it?

Technically, yes.

But the dorm door wasn't so narrow that someone sitting there made it impossible to step over.

Still, if he just ignored her and opened the door like she wasn't there, it would feel a bit too heartless.

So he gave what sounded almost like a provocation disguised as a reminder.

…To be honest, Asakusa didn't understand why Kushida was throwing a tantrum like this.

Sure.

They had done everything.

And their relationship was… somewhat ambiguous.

But at the end of the day—

There wasn't really anything between them.

They were just… "friends" born from mutual threats.

He took in her emotions.

He enjoyed her body.

That was the entire transaction.

Not even "almost lovers."

Whether they were even "more than friends" was debatable.

And yet, all he had done was leave her on read.

And she started sulking like this.

What a hassle.

"..."

Hearing his voice, Kushida slowly raised her head.

Her eyes were slightly red.

Her gaze fierce.

She glared viciously at Asakusa, who was crouching in front of her.

Then, right there in the not-at-all-private dorm hallway—

She grabbed him.

Opened her mouth.

And bit down hard.

Her white teeth pressed tight into his skin.

The pressure left deep marks.

Blood didn't appear, but the force was anything but gentle.

The girl sniffed lightly.

She searched for something.

But the scent she expected—another girl's shampoo—wasn't there.

His scent hadn't been disturbed.

There was no trace of someone who had showered again to hide something.

Just the ordinary smell of a man after a full day—

A slightly stronger scent of the opposite sex.

…She was wrong.

He hadn't gone to see another woman.

But beautiful girls don't self-reflect on their mistakes.

Yes, she was being unreasonable.

So what?

She wasn't wrong.

If anyone was wrong—

It was him.

The man who failed to satisfy her possessiveness.

As the shell of the "friendly ambassador" quietly peeled away, the capricious girl hidden beneath the mask surfaced.

Spoiled.

Selfish.

Unreasonable.

Besides the negative emotions she felt toward classmates, the emotional trash can naturally had to bear these kinds of feelings too.

"..."

Asakusa stayed completely silent.

He let her bite him.

Didn't push her away.

Didn't say anything.

Instead, he calmly reached out and stroked her back—like smoothing a cat's fur.

"..."

Her emotions gradually calmed.

Her teeth loosened.

Wiping the saliva from the corner of her mouth, Kushida finally let go.

"I'm blocking you on purpose."

She said this and prepared to stand up.

But after squatting so long, standing suddenly made her legs weak.

She stumbled.

And fell straight into Asakusa's arms.

"Mm…"

"We're still outside. Why the rush?"

Holding her steady, Asakusa stood up.

Then, like carrying a trophy, he lifted the girl in his arms.

Beep.

He casually opened the dorm door.

Open.

Enter.

Close.

At first she tried to resist.

But the moment the door clicked shut—

That resistance quietly disappeared.

There were many words he could say.

Many explanations he could give.

But once emotions rose—

Any words would only turn into arguments.

Asakusa understood that very well.

So instead of trying to soothe her with words that would eventually lead to a fight—

Better to act first.

At the end of the day, all emotions came down to one thing.

There wasn't enough love.

Fill it up.

And the conflict would disappear on its own.

...

[Today's entry completed. Evaluation: A. Drawing reward…]

[Draw successful. Congratulations, you obtained the skill: Absolute Pitch]

The settlement text appeared slightly late.

A trace of expected regret flashed through Asakusa's eyes.

So it still wasn't enough?

Was the spoiler level too low?

Did he fail to provoke everyone's emotions equally?

Or was the writing itself simply mediocre?

He didn't know.

In the end, he hadn't exceeded the index's rating.

Once written, the diary entry couldn't be taken back.

Once the evaluation was given, it wouldn't change.

The only thing Asakusa could do—

Was refine things more carefully in the next entry.

"..."

Let's look at the reward.

With a thought, the text appeared.

Name: Absolute Pitch

Category: Skill

Effect: Absolute Pitch

Note: "Absolute Pitch."

…What a ridiculously lazy description.

Asakusa felt a little speechless.

Maybe it was karma for previously fooling the diary with low-effort entries using his E-level plot index.

Now the diary was the one half-assing things.

Absolute pitch showed up—

And it's still only an A-rank evaluation?

Are you serious?

…Well.

If you didn't consider the cameo card-game players that sometimes appear in the MyGO world—

Then music itself really was the most important element of that storyline.

A world centered on a girls' band.

Girls' band = everything.

From that perspective, an ability like absolute pitch did deserve an A-level reward.

Still…

It felt a bit strange.

There were no card-game players in this world.

Asakusa had already checked carefully after seeing all those wildly popular touring girl bands.

This world only had girl bands.

No card players.

By the way, the one who was supposedly banned also didn't exist.

Otherwise, the reward he drew this time probably wouldn't have been Absolute Pitch—

It would've been an Iron Man suit.

"…Whatever."

Absolute pitch it is.

Even though Asakusa couldn't imagine when he'd ever need it—

More skills never hurt.

Maybe one day it would come in handy.

Even though right now he couldn't feel any change in his hearing at all.

Aside from the breathing of the girl beside him—

He couldn't hear anything else.

…Anyway.

He should start thinking about the next diary entry.

Asakusa had a feeling.

The plot index over the next few days—

Wouldn't be low.

Even if the rewards ended up being music-related again.

Music rewards were fine.

He wouldn't complain.
