Chapter 69 - Chapter 69- The Awakening

The night air in the Red Moon Pack mansion was thick with tension.

Hazel stood in the training grounds, the soft glow of lamps reflecting off the modern buildings and sleek cars around the property. This wasn't a forest like she had imagined packs to be—it was a city within a pack, a world of its own: mansions, training gyms, cars, and shadows moving silently.

Earlier, Liam and his mate Klara, Nick and Bella, and Sera had escorted Hazel back to the pack after a long day, making sure she arrived safely and had a chance to rest before her awakening.

Now, Hazel tightened her fists, feeling the strange energy swirling in her veins. The awakening had begun.

Ryan stood a few meters away, his dark eyes fixed on her. Behind him, Liam, Nick, and Bella watched carefully, ready to step in if she lost control.

Mila lingered at the edge of the grounds, her gaze sharp and calculating. She wanted Hazel to falter—to fail—but every step Hazel took toward understanding her power seemed to draw Ryan closer, tighter, more possessive.

Meanwhile, Gloria was near Hazel, her hands gently resting on Hazel's shoulders. Her presence was calming, her voice soft as she whispered comforting words. She held Hazel like she truly was her daughter, offering warmth and reassurance in the tense night.

Ryan's voice cut through the night.

"Focus, Hazel. You're stronger than you think."

Hazel closed her eyes and concentrated, feeling the strange pulse inside her grow with each heartbeat. The Devourer, hidden deep in her consciousness, stirred—a darkness she could feel creeping along the edges of her mind, testing her control.

Suddenly, her body jerked involuntarily. A surge of energy exploded outward, and the ground beneath her cracked slightly. Sparks of black and silver light flickered around her hands.

Liam gasped.

"Be careful… the Devourer is reacting to your power," he warned.

Ryan's expression hardened.

"I know."

Mila's lips curled into a smirk, clearly anticipating chaos. But Hazel held herself steady, eyes glowing faintly as she let the Devourer flow through her without losing control.

"Good… now channel it," Ryan instructed.

Hazel's hands pulsed with energy, shadows twisting and forming shapes that hovered just above the ground. The Devourer tested her again, whispering dark temptations, threatening to overwhelm her.

But Hazel didn't falter.

She remembered Ryan's words: You're stronger than you think.

Her body shivered as a wave of power surged outward, the Devourer bowing to her will for the first time.

Mila's smirk faltered. Gloria's gentle grip on Hazel, her soft voice, gave Hazel the confidence she needed to hold control fully.

Ryan stepped closer, his presence a grounding force. His voice was low, confident, and magnetic.

"See? I told you. You were never just a human."

Hazel turned toward him, eyes wide.

"I… I can control it?"

"Yes," Ryan said softly, letting a small smile tug at the corner of his lips.

And then, a shadow flickered at the edge of the grounds.

The Devourer stirred once more—not inside Hazel, but outside, testing, waiting. Its presence was terrifying, something even Ryan and Liam had felt before.

Hazel froze.

Ryan stepped immediately in front of her. His body tense, claws slightly extended—Ralph ready, Blade and Venom humming with his dark energy.

"You won't touch her," Ryan growled, his voice a low rumble that carried across the training grounds.

Hazel took a deep breath. For the first time, she felt both fear and exhilaration.

She wasn't just a human. She wasn't weak.

And with Ryan by her side, she could face even the darkness itself.

Ryan reached out, his hand brushing lightly against hers.

"Together," he said.

Hazel's heart raced. She nodded.

"Together."

Later that night, Ryan returned to the pack, the mansion quiet except for the soft hum of the city outside, his mind already calculating the next steps to protect Hazel from every threat—seen and unseen.

The night sky above Red Moon Pack shimmered as if acknowledging her power, and the distant city below went unaware of the storm awakening in the heart of a girl who would become a force no one could ignore.
