Chapter 94 - The Human Hearth

°♡˖꒰Author's꒱˖♡° POV

The morning sun began to peek through the heavy velvet curtains, casting a soft, golden glow across the master suite. It was 6:00 AM, and Jay Jay felt the familiar "numbness" in her legs—the telltale sign that her Human Blanket hadn't moved an inch all night.

Keifer was still sprawled completely over her, his heavy, muscular frame pinning her into the mattress. His face was buried in the curve of her neck, his deep, rhythmic breaths warming her skin. Any other person would have complained about the weight, but Jay Jay just lay there, a soft, sleepy smile spreading across her lips.

She didn't try to wake him. Instead, she spent the next hour simply adoring him.

She watched the way his dark lashes fanned against his cheekbones, looking so much longer and softer now that his "scary CEO" eyes were closed. She ran her fingertips—lighter than a breeze—along the bridge of his nose and the strong line of his jaw.

"You look so peaceful," she whispered, her voice a tiny thread of sound.

She leaned up as much as his weight would allow, pressing a tender kiss to his forehead, then his temple, and finally a lingering one on his cheek. She admired the way his messy hair fell over his brow, a stark contrast to the perfectly styled man she had dressed just yesterday. To the world, he was a tycoon who could merge empires, but to her, in this quiet morning light, he was just her world—warm, solid, and hers.

She stayed like that for the full hour, her legs completely numb but her heart overflowing. She traced the muscles of his arms that still gripped her possessively even in his sleep, marveling at how a man so powerful could be so gentle with her.

Suddenly, Keifer let out a low, gravelly hum. His grip tightened, and he nuzzled even deeper into her neck, his stubble grazing her skin.

"Stop staring," he rasped, his voice thick and deliciously messy from sleep. He didn't open his eyes, but a tiny, triumphant smirk appeared on his lips. "I can feel your heart beating faster, Jay Jay. Are you falling in love with me all over again?"

By 11:00 AM, the sun was streaming boldly through the curtains, but Keifer was still clinging to his "mattress" like his life depended on it. Every time Jay Jay tried to wiggle out from under him, he would just let out a sleepy groan and pull her back, his heavy limbs locking around her like iron bands.

"Keifer... it's almost lunchtime," Jay Jay giggled, her voice muffled as he tucked her head under his chin. "You've been a professional blanket for fifteen hours. Even a big bear needs to eat."

"No," he mumbled, his eyes still tightly shut. "Food is a distraction. The warmth here is superior. I'm photosynthesizing your love. I don't need calories."

Jay Jay burst out laughing, the vibration making him huff against her neck. "You can't photosynthesize love, you silly CEO! Your stomach literally just growled. I heard it. It sounded like a very hungry, very grumpy dragon."

Keifer finally cracked one eye open, looking at her with a dazed, smitten expression. His hair was a total disaster, sticking up in every direction, and his face was slightly flushed from sleep. He looked incredibly young and soft, a far cry from the man who had terrified his board members yesterday.

"Was it that loud?" he rasped, a shy, goofy smile spreading across his face.

"It was very loud," she chirped, booping his nose. "Now, move your big, heavy legs before mine actually fall off. I'll make you something, or we can order from that place you like. But you have to let me breathe first!"

Keifer let out a dramatic, exaggerated sigh of defeat. He slowly rolled off her, but not before grabbing her waist and pulling her into a long, deep morning kiss that tasted like lazy Sundays and home.

"Fine," he grumbled, finally sitting up and stretching his broad, bare shoulders. "But the second I'm full, I'm coming back for dessert. And by dessert, I mean another four-hour nap with you."

Jay Jay scrambled out of bed, her legs tingling as the blood finally rushed back into them. She grabbed one of his oversized dress shirts from the floor and slipped it on, looking back at him with a mischievous wink.

While Keifer was still in the shower, Jay Jay made her way to the massive, modern kitchen. She felt a surge of energy now that she was "totally well," and she wanted to treat her big bear to a taste of home.

She hummed a soft tune as she pulled out the ingredients for a classic Silog breakfast. The aroma of sautéed garlic soon filled the mansion, a warm and comforting scent that replaced the sterile office smell from the day before.

By the time Keifer walked into the kitchen—wearing nothing but low-slung sweatpants and a towel around his neck—the table was set.

"What is all this?" he asked, his eyes widening as he took in the spread.

"Sinangag (garlic fried rice), Longganisa (sweet sausages), and perfectly fried eggs," Jay Jay announced proudly, gesturing to the steaming plates. "Plus some fresh mangoes and hot chocolate. It's a Filipino breakfast for a very hungry CEO."

Keifer didn't even wait to sit properly. He pulled Jay Jay into his side, kissing the top of her head before sitting down. He took a bite of the garlic rice and closed his eyes, a look of pure bliss crossing his face. "Jay Jay... this is a million times better than any gala catering."

He ate with a ferocious appetite, finally looking alive again. Between bites, he kept reaching out to squeeze Jay Jay's hand, as if making sure she was still there and not just a delicious dream.

"I've decided," Keifer said, his mouth half-full of Longganisa. "You're not allowed to go back to your office. I'm hiring you as my personal chef/mattress/genius consultant. I'll pay you in cuddles and whatever company you want."

Jay Jay giggled, leaning her head on his shoulder as she watched him eat. "You can't afford me, Mr. Watson! But for today... I might consider an extension on your 'medicine' dosage."

The second the last bite of Longganisa was gone, Keifer's "hungry dragon" mode shifted instantly back into "clingy bear" mode. Before Jay Jay could even reach for the empty plates, he scooped her up off the kitchen chair with a triumphant huff.

"Keifer! The dishes!" she squealed, kicking her legs as he marched her back toward the grand staircase.

"The dishes don't have a heartbeat. You do," he rumbled, his voice full of stubborn intent. "Breakfast is over. The 'Human Blanket' is back on the clock."

He "kidnapped" her straight back to the master suite, kicking the door shut behind them. With the practiced ease of someone who refused to be separated from his favorite person, he shed his sweatpants and gently helped her out of the oversized shirt. He didn't care about the 11:00 AM sun or his long list of missed emails.

He flopped back onto the plush mattress, pulling Jay Jay down with him until she was lying flat on her back. Then, with a long, contented sigh, he tucked his head perfectly into the center of her chest, his heavy arms locking around her waist like a permanent anchor.

"Keifer, you just ate! You're going to get a stomach ache lying like this," Jay Jay teased, though her fingers were already finds their way back into his damp, dark hair.

"Worth it," he mumbled, his voice muffled by her skin. He nuzzled closer, his ear pressed right over her heart, listening to the steady thump-thump that was his favorite soundtrack in the world.

He was being a completely stubborn kid—a billionaire tycoon who refused to share his "wife" with the rest of the world. Every time she tried to shift to get more comfortable, he would let out a warning grumble and squeeze her tighter, pinning her down with his solid, muscular weight.

"You're impossible," she whispered, leaning down to kiss the top of his head.

"I'm comfortable," he corrected, his eyes drifting shut. "Don't move, Jay Jay. I need another three hours of 'chest-pillow' therapy. It's for my health."

Jay Jay just smiled, resigned to her fate as the world's most loved mattress. She watched the dust motes dancing in the sunlight, feeling his heartbeat sync up with hers.

Jay Jay noticed it the moment he pulled her close—his skin felt unusually cool, a lingering sign of how truly exhausted and drained his body had been from the long nights of work and stress. It was as if he had used up all his inner fire just to keep the Watson Empire running.

But as he settled into his favorite spot, his face pressed against her chest, the magic began to happen. Jay Jay could feel her own natural warmth radiating into him, slowly melting the chill from his shoulders and chest. Like a cold stone being warmed by the sun, Keifer's body began to soak up her heat, his temperature rising until his skin felt glowing and soft against hers.

Jay Jay smiled to herself, a look of pure, motherly tenderness crossing her face. She ran her hand down his back, feeling the muscles finally stop shivering and turn to liquid under her touch. Her "therapy" was working perfectly; she was literally breathing life and warmth back into her big, stubborn bear.

"See?" she whispered, her voice a tiny vibration against his forehead. "You're getting warm now. The medicine is reaching your heart."

Keifer didn't answer with words, but his body gave a deep, involuntary shudder of relief. He let out a long, shaky breath, his nose nuzzling deeper into the soft heat of her skin as he finally fell into a sleep that wasn't just rest—it was healing.

Jay Jay held him tight, her arms wrapped around his broad back, feeling like a tiny sun keeping the world's most powerful man from freezing over. She realized then that as much as he was her "human blanket," she was his "human hearth"—the only fire that could truly keep him warm.

The room was bathed in the soft glow of the afternoon, the only sound being the rhythmic, heavy breathing of the man who held her like she was his last anchor to the world. Jay Jay felt his skin finally turn from cold to a comforting, radiant heat as he soaked up her warmth, his body finally surrendering to the healing peace she provided.

She leaned down, her lips brushing against his ear, so close that her breath stirred his dark hair. She knew he was deep in the dreamworld, but she wanted to speak it into existence anyway.

"I promise you, Keifer," she whispered, her voice a fragile, beautiful thread of sound. "No matter how big your empire gets, or how tired the world makes you... you will always have this place to hide. I'll never let you be cold again. As long as I'm here, you'll never have to carry the weight of the world alone. You're my world, and I'll protect your peace with everything I have."

She pressed a soft, lingering kiss to the crown of his head, a silent seal on her vow. Keifer didn't wake, but a small, subconscious sigh escaped his lips, and his grip on her waist softened from a desperate clutch to a gentle, trusting hold.

Jay Jay rested her cheek against his head, her eyes misting over with happiness. Her "Big sleepy CEO" was finally safe, and for the first time in a week, she felt her own soul find its rest too.
