Chapter 2 - Abyss of Silence

Bang!

A door was kicked open violently. Moments later, Amon stepped inside, joy radiating from his face.

"Khar, did you find it!? If so, then hurry and take me to that place!"

A rat-shaped demon wearing a white robe like an Earth scientist sighed softly.

He placed the green potion bottle in his hand onto the table, then turned to face him.

Adjusting his glasses, he said wearily, "Your Majesty, could you please enter in a more appropriate manner? I've replaced my door ten times already, you know?"

He rubbed his aching head. Every time Amon entered, the door was destroyed. Repairing it was truly troublesome.

Amon froze for a moment before coughing shyly. Regaining his composure, he said in a deep voice, "I'm sorry. I'll have the demon workers fix it later. Now tell me—where is that place?"

Khar folded his hands behind his back and replied, "It's in the first circle of hell, specifically in the Abyss of Silence."

"The Abyss of Silence?" Amon's eyes widened in surprise. "Are you sure, Khar? How could it be there?"

The Abyss of Silence was one of the ten most dangerous places among the ten circles of hell.

According to legend, it had existed since hell was first created.

What was more, creatures far more terrifying than the demons on the surface lived there.

One of the most infamous was the All-Eater, a fish-like monster that would devour anyone who stood before it.

"I'm not joking, Your Majesty," Khar replied calmly. "At that time, I was conducting observations to find the ingredients needed to concoct my new potion. By accident, I noticed a mysterious blue vortex. After further investigation, it turned out to be a portal to another world. Most likely, it's what you've been looking for all this time."

He glanced at Amon with a meaningful look. He couldn't understand why his king was so obsessed with going to another world.

Hell was an amazing place. Amon had conquered it and become the sole ruler of millions of demons.

Yet strangely, he didn't seem happy about it.

Although Khar couldn't grasp what was on his mind, he could see that Amon appeared to be gazing at something distant and unreachable.

Amon rubbed his chin, then nodded slightly.

"I understand. Then take me there. I'll see it for myself."

Khar nodded in response. "As you command."

The Abyss of Silence…

The area surrounding it was eerily quiet. Even high-level demons did not dare approach this place.

That was because the density of demonic energy here was extremely low. Demons could not survive without demonic energy.

Moreover, the land was barren and filled with strange monsters capable of killing a demon in an instant.

At that moment, Amon and Khar were walking side by side toward the Abyss of Silence.

Both of them looked relaxed and unconcerned, as if the tense atmosphere around them did not affect them at all.

Moments later, they reached the edge of the Abyss of Silence.

The abyss was vast, its end nowhere in sight. According to legend, even after hundreds of years of walking, one would never reach the other side.

Even with his current power, Amon could not see its end.

The abyss was dark, silent, and cold. Just by looking at it, Amon felt his soul tremble faintly.

It was as though an enormous presence was staring at him from within.

"So, where is the portal?" Amon asked eagerly.

Khar turned to the left and began walking down a narrow path into the abyss.

"Follow me," he said.

Amon quickly followed him. The path seemed to have formed naturally.

Amon had never been to this place before, so everything around him felt completely unfamiliar.

Before long, they arrived at a small cave on the left.

Khar stepped inside, with Amon close behind.

"That's the portal, Your Majesty," Khar said, pointing ahead.

There stood a two-meter-high portal. It glowed light blue and spun rapidly.

Amon's heart began to race as he felt a familiar presence flowing from it.

"That's… that really is the portal!" he shouted joyfully.

At last, the way back he had searched for over thousands of years had appeared.

The happiness he had suppressed all this time finally burst forth, and tears streamed down his face.

Khar couldn't hide his surprise at the sight.

In his mind, Amon was a stern, cold, and cruel figure. He had never imagined the Demon King shedding tears like this.

"Your Majesty…"

As Khar was about to say something, Amon patted him on the shoulder enthusiastically and cut him off.

"Khar, I leave the affairs of the kingdom to you. Please assist Morrigan and Azura in dealing with the demons. I've written a letter to them but haven't had the chance to deliver it yet. It's in my bedroom drawer. Take it and give it to them. Understood?"

Khar was stunned, not expecting Amon to give him such an important mandate so suddenly.

"Your Majesty, what are you talking about?" he asked, clearly agitated. "You can't just leave us like this, can you? This isn't funny, Your Majesty."

The Kingdom of Hell had not been established for long—only thirty years.

Although its foundations were fairly solid, there were still many shortcomings yet to be addressed.

If Amon left just like that, the Kingdom of Hell, built with such difficulty, could collapse in an instant.

Though Khar was usually indifferent to such matters, he did not want to see the kingdom collapse before his eyes.

Amon chuckled softly, his fiery gaze fixed on the portal.

"Don't worry, Khar. Everything will be fine. I've already written a plan for the next thousand years. If it's carried out properly, I'm certain everything will go smoothly."

He was not a fool. Since he had long planned to leave Hell, it was impossible for him to let the kingdom collapse so easily.

He was well aware that many demons lurked in the darkness, waiting for a chance to pounce on his kingdom.

Therefore, he had prepared a long-term plan for the kingdom's prosperity.

Khar furrowed his brow and spoke hesitantly, "But—"

Before he could finish, Amon bent his knees and dashed toward the portal.

"Goodbye, Khar! Hahaha! Earth, I'm back!"

Buzz!

The moment his body disappeared, the previously stable portal began to shake violently, as if on the verge of collapse.

At the same time, the cave shook, and rocks began to fall from above.

"Danger!" Khar cried out in panic. Without a second thought, he turned and ran.

What he didn't notice was that as he fled, a shadow flashed past his left side and leapt into the blue portal.
