Chapter 1 - If I Could Live That Day Again

Story Premise

After losing the love of his life, the protagonist wakes up **years in the past**—before everything was destroyed.

He remembers every mistake.

Every word he didn't say.

But the cruel truth is: **even if he changes the past, fate may not let them stay together again.**

Chapter 1: The Day I Lost You

The hospital room smelled like disinfectant and quiet despair.

I stood beside the bed, unable to move, unable to breathe properly, staring at the woman lying there—too still, too pale, too silent.

She looked like she was asleep.

If I hadn't seen the doctor lower his head, if I hadn't heard those words—

*"I'm sorry."*

—I might have believed she would open her eyes again.

"Say something," I whispered, my voice shaking.

"Please… just yell at me like before."

She didn't.

Her hand was cold in mine.

I remembered how that same hand used to tug at my sleeve when she wanted attention, how she used to complain that my palms were always warmer than hers.

Now, no matter how tightly I held on, I couldn't give her any warmth.

"I came back," I said softly.

"I'm here… I'm not late this time."

But I was.

I was always late.

Late to understand her tears.

Late to notice her silence.

Late to realize that love doesn't wait forever.

Tears fell onto the white sheets, one after another, blurring my vision.

If I had listened that night…

If I had chased after her instead of turning away…

If I had told her *I loved her* even once—

My chest tightened painfully.

"I'm sorry," I whispered.

The words I never said when she was alive.

My vision darkened, the world spinning as regret swallowed me whole.

*If only…*

If only I could go back.

If only I could live that day again.

---

I opened my eyes.

Bright sunlight poured through the window.

The sound of an alarm clock rang sharply in my ears.

I froze.

This wasn't the hospital.

This was… my old room.

The desk by the window.

The faded curtains.

The calendar on the wall.

My eyes locked onto the date.

**Five years ago.**

My heart started pounding uncontrollably.

"No… this can't be real," I muttered.

Then I heard a familiar voice from outside the door.

"Are you awake yet?"

My breath stopped.

That voice—

The door opened slowly.

She stood there, alive, annoyed, arms crossed exactly the way she used to.

"Did you forget today again?"

I stared at her, my hands trembling.

Tears filled my eyes before I could stop them.

She frowned. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

I took a step forward, my chest aching.

This time…

I was back.

But deep inside, a terrifying thought surfaced—

What if even after returning to the past…

We still can't end up together?
