Chapter 6 - Achievement

His words brought her back to reality. She shouldn't forget that this was no longer the world she was familiar with, and the man before her was the leader of the "rogue beastmen," a very dangerous individual.

But Sylas didn't do anything; he simply asked for a few kisses and then said, "I'll go get you something to eat."

It wasn't until then that Celeste suddenly remembered she had not eaten anything since arriving in this world of beasts, and then her stomach began to rumble.

Gurgle~

A faint blush crept onto her soft, rosy face.

Celeste felt very embarrassed, and seeing Sylas laughing beside her, she snapped, "What's so funny about this?! (˶˃⤙˂˶)"

"Nothing… Give me a second."

Then he stepped out of the cave and soon returned, a slab of raw meat in his hand.

"Here… eat," he said.

Her eyes widened. She scrambled backward a few steps, shaking her head vigorously. "I'm absolutely not eating that!"

Her reaction clearly displeased him. He lifted an eyebrow. "What? You won't eat what I give you?"

"I don't eat raw meat! Cook it!"

He studied her carefully, making sure she truly refused the meat itself—and not simply because it had come from him. Clicking his tongue, he muttered, "How troublesome."

Despite what he said, he still lit the fire and started grilling the meat. However, his cooking skills were truly terrible, absolutely awful.

The flames blazed fiercely, and the meat Sylas was grilling became completely unrecognisable, having turned into a piece of charcoal.

But he didn't give up, and took another piece of raw meat to grill; however, the final outcome of that piece of meat was no better than before.

[Limited-time Quest Unlocked: Grill a piece of edible meat.]

[Time Limit: 20 minutes]

[Reward: +5 Survival Points]

[Achievement Unlocked: Modern Art, Not Food (Who would have thought you could get an achievement just by watching others cook? What a lucky girl!)]

[Achievement Reward: +1 Bar of Soap (Even in the world of beasts, you still need to take a bath; you smell a bit sour right now.) ( • ᴗ - ) ✧]

Hearing what the system says, Celeste instinctively lowered her head and sniffed herself. She didn't smell particularly good, but at least she didn't smell sour (≖_≖ ).

But she didn't have time to think much, because she had to complete the quest as quickly as possible. Only 20 minutes remained. She stepped forward, took the piece of raw meat he had just started grilling from his hand, and decided to try it herself.

Sylas didn't expect her to do so, but he didn't mind. After she took the meat, he watched her with interest.

Then Celeste found herself in a predicament. She whispered to the system, thinking Sylas wouldn't notice, but this morning, he overheard her conversation with the system. Although he didn't understand what the system meant, he knew there was something about the woman beside him that he couldn't see.

But he said nothing; the secret would be more interesting if she revealed it herself.

"System, how do I make grilled meat?"

Please forgive Celeste; she comes from a wealthy family and has never even cooked rice before, let alone grilled meat. Her only experience in the kitchen was probably boiling water to make instant noodles when she lived alone in her college dorm.

The system sighed, although no one knew why a machine would have such an emotion.

[First, place the meat over the embers.]

[Then, let one side cook until it browns and tightens.]

[You are doing it correctly. The next step is to turn the meat and cook the other side.]

[Cut into the thickest part to check it's no longer raw.]

[Okay, it should be fully grilled now, just remove the meat.]

DING!

[Achievement Unlocked: Queen of Grilled Meat!]

[Achievement Reward: +3 Bags of Sand]

[Limited-time Quest Completed!]

[Reward: +5 Survival Points]

[Host now has a total of 25 Survival Points. Would Host like to exchange this for a lucky wheel ticket?]

Sometimes these rewards are so random that she doesn't even know what to say. But the lucky wheel ticket sounds somewhat interesting, but Sylas is by her side; it'll be too weird for her to spend so much time interacting with the system.

Can only investigate it when he's not around, "No."

He handed over the roasted meat to Sylas and ordered him without hesitation, "Cut these into thin, small slices."

Sylas looked directly at her, leaning closer, his breath brushing against her cheek, causing her to blush. "If I help you, what do I get in return? You know I won't help for free."

"What do you want?"

[Host, mate with him!]

"Shut up!"

"You know what I want." Before he finished speaking, he wrapped one arm around the back of her head, pulling her towards him and kissing her. His kiss wasn't like Lucien's; it was wild and domineering. When he finally released her, she was almost breathless.

[Oh, is this really what I can watch? ◕⩊◕]

After the kiss, Sylas pulled away, a silver trace still visible at the corner of his mouth.

"SYLAS!"

"Don't shout so loudly, I'm not deaf." He put one hand over his ear.

Celeste turned her head away, unwilling to face him, and said, "You've already received your... your remuneration, now it's time to get to work."

Sylas transformed one of his hands into a wolf's paw, and the sharp claws instantly sliced the meat into thin pieces.

[This is so cool… how about you just choose Sylas?]

Celeste clenched her fists, thinking that if this system ever became a physical entity, she would definitely beat it up.

Seeing her expression, the system knew she definitely would not agree.

The system, hiding deep within her mind, stomped its foot in frustration:

[The host doesn't understand my good intentions at all! I don't like the host anymore! ૮₍ ˃ ⤙ ˂ ₎ა]

The piece of meat Sylas gave was very large; Celeste only ate a quarter of it, and Sylas ate the rest.

After finishing their meal, Sylas transformed back into his wolf form, let Celeste ride on his back, and then left the cave.

"Where are we going?" Celeste had ridden on his back before, so she was experienced with it and didn't struggle, simply holding tightly to his fur.

"You'll know when we get there," he didn't answer her question directly; some things needed to be seen firsthand to be understood.
