"Uncle Sylvarian said the same thing as you did," she murmured. "Do I really look that much like her?"
"You have never seen her before?"
"Celeste shook her head. "I was raised by my brother. As far as I can remember, I have never seen my mother before."
"It's been almost a hundred years since I last saw her," he replied. "If it were not for you, my memories of her would have grown hazy by now, and I would have almost forgotten what she looked like."
"Then do you know where she is right now?" Celeste asked, her heart pounding.
But his answer left her disappointed. He shook his head and said, "I do not know where she is right now. For hundreds of years, I have not heard a word about her, nor have I seen her."
Then he shifted his tone. "But I do remember that the last time I saw her, she mentioned a place… though I am not certain that she actually went there."
"Tell me… what place is that?" she asked, anxiety tightening her voice.
