Chapter 4 - Chapter Four, Forest

On an unknown continent lay a plane. As it rested on top a couple of trees. Wrapped in the embrace of the vines and branches.

As the vines clung around the plane holding it tight. While the branches held it up and penetrated through thick windows.

As a young boy climbed down the branches of a tree. Heading down to the forest floor, to test his new weapon.

Alex was ready to finally fight some monsters, after waiting his whole life. Ever since he was a kid he had always dreamt of fighting off evil monsters.

Now he had the chance, as it lay right in front of him. Alex grasped onto the thick branches and lowered himself down.

As he grabbed onto another branch and repeated the process. Until finally he had made it to the bottom of the tree.

He looked around him as he saw many wretched abominations. Horrified by their characteristics.

He also saw thriving plants, and moss growing off the trees. Yet even these seemed wrong, as they were a bit bigger than usual, yet it wasn't too noticeable compared to the animals in front of him.

The animals were also stuck in their own battles. They were fighting one another, yet it seemed the animals had no reason for it.

Then Alex sucked it up, hiding away his feeling of fear as he grasped onto his katana's hilt and walked forward.

This had alerted all the surrounding abominations. As rage and malice filled their eyes.

Then Alex stopped in his tracks, freezing his movements.

Oh crap, f**k I shouldn't have come down here!

Alex was immediately afraid as he turned back to the tree and started climbing it as fast as he could.

As he grabbed bark and branches he pulled himself up until he was reasonably high from the ground.

He looked back to where he used to be and saw many of the abominations waiting under the tree for him.

After a bit they started fighting each other, as Alex watched eight animals fight. It was an interesting battle, as a stag beetle started ripping a bunny apart.

With its large size of a soccer ball, and the bunny only being the size of a chair. The stag beetle's immense jaw strength made its mandibles tear through the bunny.

Except the bunny wasn't going to go out with a fight. As it jumped back and delivered a quick blow to the stag beetle side.

Yet it had no effect, even though it had a much larger size. The stag beetle's exoskeleton was as tough as steel.

The bunny had no chance of winning, as the stage beetle lunged forward prepared to crush the bunny in between its mandibles.

The moment right before the beetle could crush the bunny a lizard ran up behind it and opened its wide jaw.

It then ate the stage beetle whole, swallowing it in one gulp. Even though the lizard wasn't much bigger than the beetle it was still able to eat the beetle.

Then Alex watched in horror as the stag beetle's mandibles protruded from the lizard's belly.

The stage beetle had then cut through the stomach of the beetle. It then stuck its beefy legs through the hole and climbed out of the lizard.

The battle slowly drifted away from the tree where Alex sat.

Welp we're dead.

Alex was pretty terrified at the scene that had just happened before him. Yet he wasn't too scared, as he knew other ways to deal with the creatures.

His number one way of dealing with the creatures was to pick them out one at a time. So Alex was going to lure a single creature over, and slay it.

The creatures had all moved away from the tree that Alex was on. He acutely noticed this and started climbing down the tree once again.

Once he had gotten to the soft soil of the forest floor, he located the closest creature to him. It was a chipmunk.

Yet like all other creatures on this abhorred continent it was large and had disgusting features.

Alex then noticed a nearby rock, picked it up and then threw it at the chipmunk. As the rock soared through the air, curving downwards as if then made contact with the creature.

The chipmunk immediately turned its head, as its gaze landed on Alex. Alex noticed the rage filled eyes and had the feeling to run.

Yet he stayed still as the chipmunk got closer. Once the chipmunk got too close to Alex he grasped the black hilt of the katana, brought it above his head and swiped it down into the chipmunk.

This had caused the blade to cut cleanly through the chipmunk. Alex had split the chipmunk directly in half.

This achievement brought great joy to Alex, as he was filled with a new found hope. Yet that was overtaken by fear as he noticed a huge boar running towards him.

Then the illusory screen of the system once again flickered in front of Alex. Yet he did not pay attention to it, instead running towards the tree.

Once he made it to the tree he immediately started climbing up it. Trying to escape from the humongous boar charging towards him.

He jumped from branch to branch, climbing as quickly as he possibly could. Alex did not want to die so early into his new adventures.

Damn, I'm too young to die.

While blindly climbing the tree he had not noticed that he had already climbed most of the tree. Far beyond the reach of the boar.

Then Alex finally noticed how tall he had climbed. As he looked back down at where the boar would be.

Then he looked upon the boar as it was about to charge into the tree. The thick forehead of the boar collided with the tree.

Although it was not enough to break the tree it did send a huge tremor through it. Causing the tree to violently shake.

Alex was on the tree while this happened and what shook around, almost lost balance and fell off.

Yet Alex let his grip on the branch and did not fall. Instead, shocked by the strength of the tree, as once he saw the boar incoming he thought the tree would definitely break.

Then many people stuck their heads out the windows. All shocked by what happened, as some of their gazes landed on Alex and some landed on the boar.

Some believed it to be Alex's fault, while others saw it to be the boar's fault. While they were both right it didn't matter.

As Alex started climbing back up the tree, as he had already completed his goal of testing his weapon.

While he was climbing a large tremor shook again. Yet this time it wasn't through the tree instead it came from the ground.

Shortly after a loud boom could be heard from across the forest. As the loud sound itself could even cause a tremor.

Alex quickly looked to where the loud sound came from. He looked to his left and saw it, a huge volcano with dark smoke coming from it.

The volcano was active and exploding. As in the haze of black smoke large rocks could be seen shooting from out the volcano.

Then lava started dripping out the mouth of the volcano, sending out large amounts of steam and gas.

The survivors in the plane then began panicking. Afraid of what would happen from the wrath of the erupting volcano.

While Alex was also afraid, yet not because of the lava, gasses, or flying rocks.Instead Alex was afraid of what would befall them because of the eruption.

He knew that there were bound to be animals in the surrounding of the volcano. This eruption would cause those surrounding abominations of animals to flee.

During this time a whole load of animals could come directly towards the plane. While none of the survivors other than Alex had weapons of their own.

So Alex would have to teach everyone the way to summon their weapons. This was so they could defend the plane from the incoming monsters.

Then Alex had finally reached the plane door, as he then stepped into the plane and closed the door behind him.

Then he went to the front of the plane to give another speech.

"Everybody there is no way the volcanic rock, and or lava can reach us. Yet we have another problem. The surroundings… creatures will be heading towards us. I have just experienced the strength of these creatures. It will be difficult but we must defend the plane. If we can't, our doom is imminent."

Alex's words rang in the ears of the people, as their fear of the volcano was immediately rapped by the fear of the approaching abominations.

"How are we supposed to defend ourselves if we don't even have weapons?"

Alex heard the man. Although he was hesitant to give the precious information on the system.

He would like to keep the knowledge to himself, as this would drastically increase his survival chances, but decrease the others.

This would help him to grow faster instead of sharing with others, while also protecting him from human malice.

Damn I really have to tell these people, guess there's no other way.

Alex then made his decision, it was necessary to give the others weapons.

"Just concentrate deep within yourselves and you'll find the screen pop up in front of you, then focus on ruin, and finally focus on the ruin that pops up, then you must once again search within yourselves to find that specific ruin."

Although this confused the survivors they believed him, as he was the only one holding a weapon.

So they followed his instructions, and although it took a bit, more and more gusts of wind were forming into weapons.

Then Alex walked over to the window and saw a huge cloud of dust heading straight for the plane. This was undoubtedly the stampede of animals heading their way.

A whole crowd of animals all with the intent of murder. While Alex estimated from their distance that they'd arrive in about an hour.
