Cherreads

Chapter 3 - chapter 3 (school reputation)

Keyli and Laura were strolling around, stopping by a chocolate shop. Keyli wanted to buy a cake as an apology gift for Jerry.

"Are you sure he'll like it?" Keyli asked, pointing at other cakes.

"Cheesecake? It looks delicious," Laura said.

As they were leaving, they ran into Alex, Keyli's former teacher, working at the shop.

"Mr. Alex? You're working here?" Keyli was surprised.

"Hey, Keyli! Laura! How are you? I lost my job at the school," Alex said, glancing at Laura.

"Why? What happened?" Keyli asked.

Laura quickly intervened, "Key, let's go. My mom's calling."

Keyli bid farewell to Alex and left with Laura.

At home, Keyli found the house empty and decided to leave the cake in Jerry's room. As she was closing the door, she noticed Holland standing in the hallway.

"Holland? You're back," Keyli said.

"Yeah, I'm working on the school competition uniform design," Holland replied.

"Why didn't you ask me? I'm part of the team," Keyli said.

"No need. You're busy," Holland said.

Jerry appeared, seeing Keyli and Holland talking.

"Jer, can we talk?" Keyli asked.

"I'm busy," Jerry said, entering his room.

Keyli followed, trying to apologize.

"Jer, please! Are you mad at me?" Keyli asked.

"No," Jerry said, looking at the cheesecake Keyli brought.

Keyli was swimming to relieve stress when Holland saw her from his window.

"What are you doing?" Holland asked.

"The weather's windy, but you're swimming?" Holland said.

"I'm hot, and I love swimming," Keyli replied.

"Your math grades are dropping," Holland said.

"How do you know?" Keyli asked.

"You're a girl with problems," Holland said.

Keyli got out of the pool, covering herself with a robe.

"Want to go with me?" Holland asked, surprising Keyli.

"What?" Keyli asked.

"I'll wait outside," Holland said.

Keyli and Holland went out, making Jerry jealous.

"Hey, Jer?" Keyli greeted, but Jerry ignored her.

"Jer, can you please talk to me? You're just ignoring me," Keyli said.

"There's nothing to talk about," Jerry said.

"Why? I apologized for my words. Can't you be adult about it?" Keyli asked.

"You said you were upset with Holland, but you're going with him?" Jerry said.

"We were just talking. It's not a big deal," Keyli said.

"Holland, you've got what you want – Mom, school, and Keyli," Jerry said, entering his room.

"What does he mean?" Holland asked Keyli.

"Our moms arranged for us to be married," Jerry said earlier.

Keyli was shocked.

Sarah returned home, happy to see Holland.

"Hey, sweetie, you're still up?" Sarah asked.

"No, Mom. I'm working on my assignment," Holland replied.

"How's Jerry?" Sarah asked.

"He's sleeping," Holland said.

Sarah was happy to hear about Holland and Keyli's school project.

The next day, Keyli saw police outside the chocolate shop.

"What's happening?" Keyli asked.

"Robbery, I think," the driver said.

Keyli saw the news about Laura's mom having an affair, and Laura was missing.

At home, Sarah comforted Keyli.

"I'm worried about Laura," Keyli said.

"I know, dear. Let's find her," Sarah said.

Jerry and Keyli went to look for Laura.

"I think I know where she is," Jerry said.

As they drove, Jerry gave Keyli strawberry juice.

"I thought you were still mad at me," Keyli said.

"I'm just protective of you," Jerry said.

Keyli was confused.

On the way, Jerry asked, "Did you tell Holland you're going with me?"

"No, why would I care what he thinks?" Keyli said.

Jerry smiled.

"I'm jealous," Jerry said suddenly.

"Jealous?" Keyli was surprised.

"I confess, Keyli. I like you," Jerry said, stopping the car.

Keyli's eyes widened.
