Chapter 6 - Six

WREN

"There you are," the Matron said, grabbing my hand. I held back a wince when

her nails scratched me. "The Prince's room is on the East Wing, Fourth floor. He has

that entire space. So once he comes in, lead them to his room. The guards will carry

his bags upstairs with you."

I internally groaned. The Castle was an old building; made from dark blue

stone, the exact colour of the Alpha Kings' wolf fur since the Blackthorn family took

over this land.

The building was tall and extremely huge with five floors and four wings. Over

time, some modern adaptations had been made to the place, but they were yet to put

the most important thing; Elevators. Climbing up the stairs was even more of a chore

than my actual work.

And up to the fourth floor? Caius' room was on the third floor, and it was

already a bother.

"Yes, my lady," I replied. I followed the two bulky guards dressed in dark suits.

When they got to the large front door, they stood on each side of it, hands crossed

over their stomachs.

I stayed beside the one on the left. There was no one in the space we were in,

so I relished the silence. Until I heard a graceful click of heels and the Luna came into

view.

The Luna of the pack was someone I saw frequently, but I was yet to get used

to her beauty. Her timeless, graceful beauty. She was what you could compare to an

old wall clock that was a gift from your great great great grandmother. One with

ancient design that never paled in comparison to modern designs.

One you felt inexplicably drawn to.

Her long white hair fell down her back in flawless waves, and her eyes were a

colour I still could not place. So clear, they reflected the colour of the light. Her skin

was as light as milk, face decorated with freckles that only highlighted her beauty.

Fine lines curved around her mouth, the only sign of her 52 years of age.

I heard it was such an uproar when King Draven revealed that she was to be

his Luna. He did not find his mate. So many wolves do not. Because mate bonds are

not only made within packs. Some werewolves find their mates in other packs.

But he was the King. The pack wouldn't let him bond with anyone from

outside. And he was required to have one before his ascension to the throne.

She was from a modest family, the youngest daughter of her father, known to

nobody. But that wasn't why they did not accept her.

She was an Omega, and an Albino. Definitely not their fairy-tale picture of a

Queen. Till date, no one knows for sure if he married he because he was desperate,

but it is clear now that he loves her. Even if she was only able to give him one child.

It must be why she was so pleased to take Caius as her own after his parents

died. He loved her like he loved his mother, and she loved him like a son. He'd told

me of their beautiful relationship, and so now, as I stared at her in awe, my heart

tightened.

Because she reminded me so much of her nephew. Of the man who hadn't

even looked for me after what happened in the morning. Hadn't slipped me a letter.

Instead, I'd heard murmurs of him prancing around with his drop dead

gorgeous first love.

The scent of cedar hit my nose, and my head snapped to the side as Caius

walked to us. Tears filled my eyes and I looked away, gaze on the ground, willing

them to stay in.

"Nobody told me he was returning today," he grumbled, and Luna Solenne

laughed softly.

"We did not know what to expect, darling. When we received his letter, it was

vague and dry. It has been a while since I saw him. I wanted all the space I could get."

Her voice was so soft, yet full of so much longing. I could tell she missed her

son. She had not seen him for almost 20 years.

"You wrote to him, though, constantly," Caius said gently.

"Of course, and he wrote back, too. But he stopped writing four years ago.

When he didn't return."

"You worry too much, my love." The Alpha walked in with his Beta and the

Matron, placing an arm around his wife. She leaned into him, a helpless look in her

eyes.

The way an Omega had no choice but to melt into her Alpha. And the display

was so tender, I had to look away, my throat stinging as I felt the familiar gaze of

electric blue eyes.

Goddess, the Prince couldn't come fast enough.
