The plan was stupid. It was the kind of plan that got people killed in raid groups.
"I'm going to jump on it," I said.
"You're going to what?"
"It has high armour. Your blasts will bounce off it. I need to strip its shell."
I didn't wait for him to argue. I walked to the railing of the second-floor mezzanine that overlooked the lobby. The spider was directly below me, waiting for prey to walk through the front door.
I jumped.
I fell fifteen feet. Mid-air, I activated [Deconstruct].
I landed on the spider's back. My hands slapped against its cold, stony carapace.
[Target is Resistive.] [Mana Cost Increased.]
"Eat this!" I roared, dumping my entire mana bar into the skill.
The spider shrieked, a sound like grinding metal. The concrete on its back began to dissolve. It thrashed, trying to throw me off. I held on to a piece of rebar sticking out of its neck like a rodeo rider on a mechanical bull.
The shell cracked. The grey stone turned into blue particles.
"Silas! Now! The exposed spot!"
Silas was leaning over the railing above. He fired a beam of void energy thick as a tree trunk.
It hit the spider right where I had stripped the armour. The creature convulsed. The void energy ate through its internal structure. Its legs gave out, and it collapsed into a pile of non-animated rubble.
[Rare Elite Defeated!] [Loot Drop: Weaver's Silk (Rare)]
I lay on top of the pile of rubble, panting. My mana was zero. My headache was blinding.
"That," I wheezed, "was awesome."
