Chapter 5 - Smile

A mission.

Would I rather be sacrificed or would I go on a mission?

You wanted to change the world, didn't you?

Looks like The Princess never left.

"What's the mission?" I asked without thinking. Great. Now I seemed eager to go on a mission.

Yay.

"Find the Relic." Her voice boomed and her eyes glowed white.

The Relic? Very helpful

I don't know if I was the only one who was taken into a parallel dimension, but I'm assuming I was the only one taken into a parallel dimension. I mean, Sera was there of course, but I don't think anyone else was there with me.

"Sera, where have you taken us?" Kairos next to me, crossed his arms.

I yelled and jumped away from him.

"Dramatic much?" He raised an eyebrow.

I cleared my throat. "Sorry, I didn't expect anyone with me.

"A dimension that is closed off from the other, where they can't hear our conversation." She answered his question. "The Relic. You must find it in the city of metal."

City of metal. Ryther.

I thought Ryther didn't exist anymore. That it was completely wiped off?

"Back then, I hid few cities that would be helpful for us now" Sera spoke as if she read my mind. "The ancient cities. Syrus, Ryther, Xyla and Ophora. I hid them away from The Marionette King."

"What's 'The Relic'?"

Seriously, what was it? I had no clue what it was and Kairos seemed to understand everything.

"Your sword." They said at the same time.

Why the hell was my sword a relic? I'm still alive guys???? I still need to use that.

Then again, it was 1000 years ago or something, and it probably was never used.

"It's kept in the center of the city."

So everyone can watch me take my sword back? Amazing. Totally not gonna be awkward at all.

"Hey guysss, you'll never believe it, but I'm alive again and I need this back, so pretend that this was never here for like a thousand of years. I promise I'm going to give it back. Actually you know what? I won't. It's mine anyways."

Totally not going to be awkward.

"Why is Kairos coming?"

"He is your knight, he will be coming to protect you."

"Why did you call a meeting if you were gonna take us into a different dimension?"

Why did she do that?

She simply smiled.

SERA? DON'T LEAVE ME HANGING ON THIS QUESTION. WHAT WAS THE REASON???

And suddenly we were back into the meeting room with the people surrounding the table.

"Lira Crimson leaves tomorrow at first light. Prepare her things." Sera announced to the others. They scurried off arguing on who is doing what.

First light?

Noooo I don't want to wake up so early.

I glanced at Kairos, who still had his face expressionless and unreadable. How were we ever best friends?

He glanced over at me, and for a brief moment, I thought I saw his eyes soften, before going back to stone cold.

Maybe I was good at reading his expressions back then when I was The Princess. Maybe if I got closer to him, we could be what we were back then?

I do wonder what happened to my ex-fiancé at times. Was it too dangerous for him to be with me? Or did I not want the marriage? Or did he cheat on me? What if I cheated on him?

I hate not having the complete memories.

I went to bed, and was knocked out cold.

"Kairos!" I yelled across the royal garden, running to him and tackled him to the ground. His face was young. Around the teenage years?

His stone cold face stayed the same, but I could tell what he was feeling. He was happy to see me as well.

"Princess, you're going to get yourself covered in mud, and me as well." He simply said.

"I don't care." I giggled.

"I do." He stood up, then helped me up and brushed off the dirt off of his clothes.

Ingrid, one of my lady-in-waiting came walking next to me. "Princess, do not dirty your clothes. You need to meet a potential fiancé." She scolded and I pouted.

I glanced at Kairos again, his eyes showing a hint of irritation. He was always irritated whenever my father wanted me to choose a fiancé.

"I cannot choose a fiancé that will not let me have fun. They need to know that I simply don't sit back in a chair." I crossed my arms and looked the other direction.

Ingrid sighed exhausted. "You really do take after your father. Come now, let us get you ready."

I walked with Ingrid next to my side. I turned back to Kairos and stuck my tongue out to him. He smiled slightly.

When was the last time I saw him smile?

Cold water was thrown on my face to wake me up. Sera standing next to me with an innocent smile plastered on her face.

Right. I needed to go find my sword. 'The Relic' or whatever.

I got ready, wearing whatever I could find. I headed down to find Kairos waiting near a carriage with his sword around his waist. He was wearing all black as if he was an assassin. His cloak in his hands.

He spotted me, and eyed me up at down. "You are not wearing that, are you?" He raised an eyerbrow.

What was wrong with what I was wearing? It was a simple brown sleeveless t-shirt and a darker brown cargos.

I raised an eyebrow back at him.

He exhaled sharply. "You're going to get cold, and you need to disguise, Princess." He tossed me the black cloak.

He helped me to get on the carriage. When I was on the stairs, I turned to him and stuck my tongue out at him.

He was taken aback, and smiled ever so slightly. Like he did in my memory dream.

He was still the same kid as back then.

Kairos took a seat next to me. I was sleepy and eventually I dozed off. After a while when I woke up, I found myself drooling on his shoulder.

Shit.

He had an irritable expression, and he glanced down at me when I shifted. His eyes looked like he would kill me.

I got on the floor of the carriage and begged him for forgiveness.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'M SORRY!" I held his foot.

"Let go of me, why do you always assume I'm going to kill you?" He kicked me off of his foot.

"You looked at me like you were going to kill me." I was still on the floor.

He sighed. He put a hand over my mouth.

What the-?

"We have other issues to worry about. It wasn't you that look was towards."

"What?" The words coming out of my mouth were muffled against his hand.

"Bandits."
