Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 Principles

Today is your final assessment, a real combat mission. Are you all ready?" Dog Head Old Gao looked at Lin Mu and the others.

"Always ready!"

"I wish you success in your first battle and a triumphant return."

"Loyal to the motherland, loyal to the people!"

"Depart."

"Yes!"

At Gray Wolf's command, the Rookie A Team led by Lin Mu ran toward the Transport Vehicle parked nearby.

Watching the vehicle carrying Lin Mu and his group leave the training camp, Dog Head Old Gao felt exceptionally nervous.

To become Wolf Fang Special Forces soldiers, one not only needs to pass physical tests but also must have a strong heart. At the same time, one must never do anything to betray the motherland or the people under any circumstances, let alone sell out their teammates.

Loyalty!

It is what Wolf Fang, and the military as a whole, values most.

The reason they put so much effort into organizing this operation was to see how the members of Rookie A Team truly performed.

Dog Head Old Gao wasn't worried about the others in Rookie A Team at all because he believed Lone Wolf A Team could handle them.

His only concern was Lin Mu, that powerful fellow. Don't forget, he was the one who obtained thirty Wolf Fang armbands on the very first day of the Wolf Fang Training Camp.

Lin Mu's gun was loaded with live ammunition. This operation was a loyalty test, and those playing the drug dealers were also their own people.

If Lin Mu took the capture of Lone Wolf A Team seriously, live ammunition was no joke.

At this moment, Dog Head Old Gao was very conflicted. Should he tell Lin Mu the truth?

If he told him, the loyalty test would be half-failed. But if he didn't, what if Lin Mu accidentally killed someone?

Lin Mu would surely face a court-martial. Not just his military career, but his entire life would be over.

And as the planner and organizer of this event, Gao himself wouldn't escape military law.

"Sigh! I can only hope everything goes smoothly. Lin Mu, I hope you don't let me down."

Ultimately, Dog Head Old Gao decided to take the gamble.

Sitting in the helicopter, Lin Mu looked through the window at the pitch-black mountain forest below.

Although he knew this operation was designed by Dog Head Old Gao and the others, Lin Mu didn't want to be caught and become a prisoner.

Not even by his own people, and not even if it was fake. This was Lin Mu's principle.

Taking advantage of the little time left, Lin Mu closed his eyes, leaned against the window, and said, "System, I want to draw a prize."

Because of the Wolf Fang Training Camp, he hadn't drawn a prize for three months.

"The Host's luck has exploded! You have obtained a Perfect-grade Assassination Skill," said the System.

[This skill provides the Host with assassination plans that are highly safe, low-noise, and low-effort. It kills the target without leaving any clues.]

"It's practically a god-tier tool; I'll definitely use it in the future," Lin Mu said with great joy.

"Assassination skill transmitting, please wait," the System said.

In just a few seconds, the transmission was complete. Feeling the power of the assassination skill, Lin Mu couldn't wait to test it out.

Soon, the opportunity came.

"We're here. Start fast-roping." Hearing Gray Wolf's voice, Lin Mu snapped out of it and prepared to descend.

After the Wolf Fang Training Camp, these people had no issues with fast-roping.

After descending from the helicopter to the ground, they set off under the lead of Lone Wolf A Team. After about half an hour of travel, Gray Wolf raised his right fist to signal everyone to stop.

Seeing the gesture, Lin Mu and the others crouched down and began to maintain a perimeter.

Lin Mu knew Gray Wolf was waiting for someone: the border defense intelligence staff officer, Xia Lan.

Not long after they crouched down, someone signaled them with a flashlight from a few hundred meters away.

Seeing the signal, Gray Wolf took out his own flashlight to reply.

Once it was confirmed there was no issue with the contact, a man and a woman appeared before Lin Mu and the others shortly after.

"Who is Gray Wolf?"

"I am. You must be Staff Officer Xia?"

"Correct. I am Xia Lan, the intelligence staff officer for the Border Defense Units. This is my assistant."

"Time is tight. Let's move. We still have over thirty kilometers of mountain trails to cover."

"Over thirty kilometers?"

"What, can the Special Forces not even handle this bit of mountain road?" Xia Lan teased.

"It's not that we can't; we're afraid you can't," Gray Wolf said.

"We'll see on the battlefield. Let's go." After saying that, Xia Lan took the lead.

Half an hour later, Lin Mu and the others had arrived at the planned ambush site, except it was now covered in fog.

Visibility was definitely less than five meters.

Following beside Gray Wolf, Lin Mu constantly observed his surroundings.

Seeing Lin Mu's gaze constantly scanning, Gray Wolf and the others were extremely nervous.

After all, they had experienced Lin Mu's terrifying observational skills more than once.

They were afraid Lin Mu would notice something at this moment.

"Ambush! Close in on us! Retreat! We've hit an ambush!"

Meanwhile, Ostrich used what he had learned at Wolf Fang to trigger all the traps the Veterans had set up earlier.

Instantly, thick smoke appeared everywhere at the ambush site.

The moment the smoke appeared, Gray Wolf knew the plan had changed and they couldn't proceed as intended.

"Retreat! Retreat immediately!"

"Contact Wolfs Den. We need to head to Point U immediately."

After saying this, Gray Wolf saw a strange smile appear on Lin Mu's face.

His heart tightened, and he thought to himself: Not good.

He had been somewhat relieved that Lin Mu hadn't seen through Wolf Fang's careful arrangement, but seeing Lin Mu's smile, Gray Wolf knew they couldn't delay any longer.

"Chirp, chirp."

Lin Mu blew the whistle hidden in his mouth. It wasn't to signal the team to move, but to tell them to be on high alert.

After months together, Lin Mu knew Qiang Zi, Ostrich, Medic, and Geng Jihui very well.

So, after becoming the captain of Rookie A Team, he taught the Bird Language Code to the four of them.

One-on-four was tiring, so Lin Mu grabbed Old Cannon and the other two to have them conduct one-on-one teaching sessions.

He also had Happy Baby quickly make several whistles in his spare time.

Because Lin Mu intentionally controlled it, only ten people knew about the Bird Language now; the other two were still in the Night Tiger Reconnaissance Company.

Several bird calls echoed through the forest. As soon as the calls ended, the members of Rookie A Team subconsciously raised their weapons in full alert.

Gray Wolf looked at the group who had suddenly entered alert mode for no apparent reason and felt that the plan might have been exposed.

He kicked away the fishing line near his feet.

As Gray Wolf kicked the fishing line, the trap connected to the other end was triggered.

The anesthetic gas placed in the trap instantly spread, enveloping Gray Wolf and the others.

While kicking the line, Gray Wolf looked around and found that Lin Mu had disappeared.

"He saw through it... that bird call just now had a meaning."

This was Gray Wolf's last thought before losing consciousnes
