Chapter 1: The Crimson Witch of the Abyss_1

White Cloud City

A man was walking toward home after another overtime night shift. He looked very exhausted; his eyes were dim, and he could fall asleep at any moment.

His name was Auren, a twenty-year-old man who worked at a black company to make a living. It was a very exhausting job, but Auren, a mortal without any supernatural power or higher education, could only work at such a company to survive.

The truth was that Auren was not from this world. He had transmigrated to this world four years ago into the body of an orphan boy. Without family support, he could only study up to college.

Another thing was that in this world, superpowers and monster beasts existed. People at the age of eighteen could awaken their inner power and step into the world of superhumans.

They hunted monster beasts outside the city. In this world, monster beasts roamed freely beyond the city walls. Some monster beasts were very weak, and beginner superhumans could defeat them. Others were so strong that they could destroy an entire nation.

Humans and monster beasts always fought for survival, territory, and resources, so the enmity between both sides ran deep. Both sides wanted to become the only race to enjoy everything.

Monster beasts were dangerous, but to most superhumans, they were valuable treasures. Superhumans used monster beast materials to craft weapons and artifacts.

Because of this, monster beast materials were very expensive. Every day, thousands of superhumans traveled into the wilderness to hunt monster beasts, collect their materials, and sell them to become rich.

But in reality, there was no such thing as a free lunch in this world. Countless superhumans died at the hands of monster beasts or at the hands of their comrades.

But it had nothing to do with Auren, who had no superpower like them. He could only work at a black company to make a living.

Auren dragged his tired body through the dimly lit streets. The neon lights of the shops flickered weakly, and the sound of passing hover-cars echoed in the distance. His stomach growled, but he ignored it.

He stopped in front of a small, old apartment building and climbed the narrow stairs. Each step felt heavier than the last. When he finally reached his room, he pushed the door open and collapsed onto the bed.

The ceiling above him was stained and cracked. He stared at it in silence, his mind empty from exhaustion.

Just as he was about to close his eyes, a sudden dizziness struck him. His vision blurred. He tried to sit up, but his body felt strangely light, as if something unseen was pulling at his consciousness.

Then, a faint glow appeared in front of him. A transparent window slowly formed in the air, floating before his eyes.

Lines of unfamiliar text began to appear, one after another.

The room fell completely silent.

Auren stared at the floating window, his breath unconsciously held. His tired mind thought it was a hallucination brought on by overwork, but the glow remained steady, clear, and cold.

More words appeared.

Auren's pupils shrank.

"…System?" he whispered. "Did my golden finger finally come?"

Before he could react, another line emerged.

[Binding with Abyssal Summoning System in progress…]

[Binding complete]

A sharp pain pierced his chest. It was not the kind of pain that tore flesh, but one that sank directly into his soul. Memories that were not his own flashed through his mind: endless darkness, burning skies, towering shadows with wings and horns.

When the pain finally faded, he was drenched in cold sweat.

New text appeared.

His heartbeat quickened. He had finally awakened his golden finger. He had been waiting for this for four years… four long years. Now he could use this golden finger to soar to the heavens.

Auren stared at the last line. "Abyss Summoner." This was the profession given to him by the system. He had never heard of this profession before.

In this world, superhumans were divided into different professions based on their roles, such as warriors, mages, healers, archers, and spellcasters. There were also some unique professions, but these were hidden by the government and not available to the public.

"System, can you explain how I can use you?" Auren asked. He wanted to know how to use the golden finger he had waited for so long.

[Abyssal Summoning System allows the host to summon creatures from the Abyss Realm. They are strong individuals from the Abyss Realm. They are completely loyal to the host. The Abyssal Summoning System also allows the host to grow stronger by completing missions.]

Auren read the information given by the system and became both awed and excited. His system allowed him to summon strong individuals from the Abyss Realm. If he could summon a powerful being, his strength would become unmatched.

When Auren was in ecstasy over his good fortune, a system notification appeared on the transparent system window.

[First Summoning Available]

[Do you wish to summon?]

Auren pulled back from his daydream and looked at the system panel. He said, "System, I wish to summon my first summon."

[Host command accepted]

[Abyssal Summoning…]

Auren looked at the system panel with glowing eyes. He wished he could summon a strong person.

Suddenly, all the lights in Auren's room went out. The room became dark, and seeing this, Auren felt a chill in his bones.

A purple pentagon appeared in front of him. A dark shadowy figure began to emerge. Feeling fear, Auren took a few steps back.

The shadow figure came out completely, and the dark atmosphere began to vanish. A beautiful figure started to emerge from the shadows.

She had long, flowing black hair and pointed, elven-like ears. Her eyes glowed a deep crimson, giving off an intimidating yet alluring presence. A confident, slightly mischievous smile rested on her lips.

Two dark, curved horns rose from her head, marking her demonic lineage. From her back spread large leathery wings colored black with red veins, capable of carrying her through both sky and shadow.

Her body had a curvaceous, "femme fatale" build, radiating danger and charm in equal measure.

She wore a tight black-and-red armored bodysuit reinforced with metallic plates along her shoulders and arms. A high-slit skirt hung from her waist, linked together by silver chains that clinked softly when she moved.

Glowing red gemstones decorated her body: one embedded in her chest, one on her belt, and a pair of teardrop-shaped earrings.

Auren was thunderstruck by her beauty. She was the most beautiful woman he had seen in his life… no, in both his lives.

At that moment, a system notification appeared before Auren's eyes.
