Chapter 11 - Chapter 10 – Unbreakable

The sky over Manhattan was the color of molten steel — heavy, unyielding, and ready to break.

That morning, I stood before the mirror, my reflection calm but blazing with quiet power.

The world had thrown everything it could at me — betrayal, scandal, heartbreak — and yet here I was, unshaken, dressed in tailored ivory and gold.

Today wasn't just another board meeting.

Today, Hattaway Vision would announce its rebirth — leaner, stronger, untouchable.

Lana entered without knocking, her eyes bright with pride. "Press is waiting downstairs. CNN, Forbes, Bloomberg… they all came."

"Good," I said, sliding on my gold cuffs. "Let them see what resilience looks like."

Evelyn appeared next, holding a folder. "Before you go down there, you should see this."

Inside were photos — not of me this time, but of James Hudson.

He was in Dubai, arm in arm with Victor Dane, smiling for cameras, signing something that looked like a deal.

"New company," Evelyn explained. "Phoenix Data Corporation. Registered last week. They're pitching themselves as your competitors."

I gave a small, cold smile. "Phoenix. How poetic. Rising from my flames."

Wallace entered then, the air shifting as he did.

The man had a presence that made even silence feel expensive. His black suit was razor-cut, but his gaze softened when it met mine.

"Ready?" he asked quietly.

"Always."

---

The conference hall shimmered under crystal lights.

Journalists filled every row, murmuring as cameras flashed. The screens behind me displayed the new logo — Hattaway Vision Global.

When I stepped up to the podium, the room fell silent.

I didn't need to raise my voice. Every syllable carried conviction.

"Not long ago, we faced betrayal," I began. "We faced lies, manipulation, and sabotage. But I stand before you to tell you — integrity doesn't die in chaos. It evolves. It becomes unbreakable."

Applause thundered through the hall, echoing like a heartbeat.

Wallace watched from the front row, pride in his eyes.

"We've built not just a company," I continued, "but a legacy. A reminder that women can rise from destruction and build empires that no man can crumble."

I ended with a single line that trended for weeks afterward:

> "I am Diana Hattaway — and this time, no one writes my ending but me."

---

After the conference, the team celebrated, champagne and laughter echoing through the penthouse suite.

But I slipped out quietly, drawn to the balcony again — that sacred place between victory and reflection.

Wallace followed, two glasses in hand. "You were extraordinary."

"Thank you," I said softly, staring at the skyline. "But the fight isn't over."

He handed me a glass. "James and Victor can form all the companies they want. They'll never outshine you."

I looked at him, eyes narrowing slightly. "You're sure about that?"

"I'm certain," he said. "Because they build from greed. You build from fire."

He said it with such conviction that it almost sounded like prophecy.

Then, after a pause, he added, "I have something for you."

From his pocket, he drew a small black velvet box.

My heart tripped. "Wallace…"

"Before you panic," he said with a small smirk, "it's not that kind of box. Not yet."

I laughed — for the first time in days.

Inside was a sleek platinum bracelet engraved with the word Unbreakable.

"It's a reminder," he said, eyes steady. "Of who you are — and who you'll never become again."

I ran my fingers over the metal. "Unbreakable," I murmured. "I like that."

"Good," he said, stepping closer. "Because I plan to be the man who stands beside that strength — not in front of it."

I met his gaze, warmth flooding through me. "Careful, Wallace. You sound dangerously close to love."

He smiled, slow and knowing. "Maybe I am."

---

Later that night, when the world had gone quiet, I sat in my study, reviewing the day's headlines.

Every outlet hailed Hattaway Vision as a phoenix reborn — stronger than ever.

But one message caught my eye.

An email. No sender. No signature.

Just one line:

> "Unbreakable women still bleed, Diana. See you soon."

I leaned back, heart steady, lips curling into a smirk.

They thought they could scare me.

They didn't understand.

I wasn't afraid of the storm.

I was the storm.
