Chapter 34 - Morning After Bliss

The warm glow of sunrise peeked through the velvet curtains, gently waking Sofia and Cable. They lay entwined, still wrapped in each other's arms, as if reluctant to break the spell of their wedding night.

Sofia stirred first, her chest rising with a contented sigh. Her eyes fluttered open, locking onto Cable's sleepy gaze—his eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled.

"Still dreaming?" Sofia whispered, her voice husky from sleep.

Cable's arms tightened around her, pulling her closer: "I hope not... because this dream feels ridiculously perfect with you in it."

Sofia's lips curved softly, her fangs barely visible for a fleeting second: "Married to my love... yesterday feels surreal. Did we really vow forever?"

Cable's mouth brushed against hers, a gentle morning kiss: "We absolutely did... and I'm obsessed with making every 'forever' day start like this—with you in my arms."

As they lingered together, Cable's expression turned gentle yet concerned. He hesitated before speaking softly: "Sofia, my love... after last night... do you need to... feed? Will you need to hunt tonight, or is there another way?"

Sofia's eyes sparkled with affection at his thoughtful question: "You are always so mindful of my nature, my love... I adore that about you."

She snuggled closer, her voice low and intimate: "Actually, soon I will need to satiate the hunger, otherwise..."

Cable's brow furrowed, his protective instincts rising: "Sofia, when you hunt at night... are you truly safe roaming the kingdom alone? If anyone discovers what you are, our life together would be forfeit."

Sofia's expression turned guarded, her voice barely above a whisper: "My kind has lived hidden among mortals for centuries. If discovered, it would be the end for me."

Cable gripped her hand firmly, his eyes locking onto hers: "I won't let anyone harm you. But must you hunt alone tonight? Let me be your shield, even in the shadows."

" The royal family shares morning meals together"

The grand dining hall was bathed in the golden morning light, reflecting off the polished silverware. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and flaky pastries filled the air.

King Julian Ross presided at the head of the table.

Queen Ava and Queen Charlotte sat in places of honor.

Cable and Sofia sat together, a silent yet profound bond evident between them.

Prince Liam and Lady Victoria sat with their characteristic regal poise.

Prince Ryan and Emilly sat close, the newfound glow of their love brightening their expressions.

Following the strict rules of royal etiquette, once the attendants retreated, Arya spoke with calculated grace:

"Your Majesty, beloved Mother, and esteemed family," Arya's voice was steady and respectful. "I wish to place a request before you. I have decided to return to my home city, Calorina."

Queen Ava lowered her teacup slowly, her brow arching in curiosity. "Arya, dear niece, why so soon? Your mother's recovery is still so delicate."

Arya shared a tender look with Queen Charlotte, whose face looked remarkably clear and conscious. "That is precisely why, Aunt Ava. The palace in Calorina is fully restored, and Mother is herself again, thanks to the love and forgiveness she found here. I feel the city calling me home."

Prince Liam nodded toward Arya with respect, "Calorina needs its princess, Arya. Your sense of duty is commendable." Victoria offered a supportive smile beside him.

Prince Ryan, catching Emilly's eye, addressed the table, "Your Majesty, Arya's courage will surely bring a new dawn to Calorina." Emilly added softly, "We shall miss you, Arya, but we know your heart belongs to your people."

King Julian looked to Queen Ava, who spoke with the authority of the crown: "Arya, by the crown's authority and our family's blessing... you have our formal permission to return to Calorina. May fortune smile upon your journey."

Arya rose and, with perfect poise, performed a deep curtsy before gently kissing her aunt's hand. "Thank you, Aunt Ava. Your kindness honors me."

The table was filled with warm wishes, yet beneath the decorum, everyone felt the weight of this new chapter—Arya was moving forward, leaving the shadows of the past behind.

In the fading afternoon light, Sofia and Arya strolled through a secluded palace garden. The vibrant flowers and soft birdsong seemed to celebrate the newfound peace between them.

Sofia, unable to contain her curiosity, asked gently, "Arya, my dear cousin... Aunt Ava granted you permission so readily, but what truly lies in your heart? Are you returning to Calorina only for the palace, or is there something more?"

A soft, radiant smile played on Arya's lips—a smile that hadn't been seen in a long time. "Sofia, I've made a choice... a choice to forgive and to love again. I am returning to Calorina because I want to start a new life with Ethan. I want to stay by his side."

Sofia's face lit up with pure, unadulterated joy. "Oh, Arya! This is wonderful news! My heart swells for you both. I was so worried about your pain—to see you healed and happy again is pure magic!" She enveloped Arya in a warm embrace. "Tell me everything—how did this miracle happen?"

Arya began sharing the story of her conversation with Queen Charlotte. "It was Mother... her madness lifted for a fleeting moment, and she spoke words that healed my soul. She told me to choose love over hatred, for both are poisons, but only love sets you free."

Sofia listened, enchanted, as Arya continued, "Mother reminded me that Ethan's actions, however misguided, were driven by his love for me. Hearing her speak with such clarity made me realize she was right—my heart still belongs to him. That moment was a gift from heaven, Sofia."

Tears of joy sparkled in Sofia's eyes. "This is the most beautiful story I've ever heard, Arya! Your mother's wisdom and your courage to forgive... it's a blessing. You are finally reclaiming your happiness."
